My first serious attempt at a Deathmold and also, probably not coincidentally, my first Winner. I've had other characters who probably could've won, but generally lost interest in them after a while. This was not a particularly hardcore victory, and strategies that may or may not be taken as fair were employed, but I still consider it an honest win.
I decided to not leave levels 97-98 of the Halls of Mandos until I had reached level 50, collected all my tomes, and mostly finished stat gain (I didn't bother finishing maxing out Wisdom.) I found a Staff of Wishing here, and acquired the Mage Staff of Wizardry and PDSM of Immunity I used thereafter. After that, used deathmold level teleporting to just stroll out of the Halls and head for the dungeon to get something for the extra skill points; I lucked out and got Symbiosis from my second Fumblefingers.
From there a brief trip to the Nether Realm with a heap of Summon Never-Moving scrolls to try to get a Master Q, but I got luckier than I anticipated; I got Improv the Mighty MoLD while my Essence of Speed was on, and was able to hypnotize him before he turned on me.
Dol Guldur was pretty easy, after which I took a side trip to Erebor to wander around the bottom killing Ds and trying to fill my last few equip slots. Once I was equipped to my satisfaction, I used level teleport again to slide down to the bottom of Angband and killed Sauron three times before he dropped the One Ring.
At this point, it became pretty clear why Deathmolds are experimental; I used level-teleports to drop through Mordor to the heart of Mount Doom without actually fighting any enemies, used Recall to swap positions into the Great Fire's room, summoned a monster onto the Great Fire and Recalled onto it to drop the ring, then exited again before fighting anything. Sauron was there, so I killed him there instead of trying to hunt him down in Angband.
After that, back to Angband, some more level-teleporting to drop down until I spotted Morgoth, and numerous Manathrusts, Banishments (to deal with summons), Potions of *Healing*, and one Potion of Restore Mana later he was dead. There are probably trickier and more efficient ways to kill him, but "whatever works" seems to have been this character's motto anyway.
Might head for the Nether Realm next, or might not.. I know I want to try to get Vilya, though. Hopefully, by the time I'm done with that there'll be a Mac PPC port of 2.2.1 so I can move on to that..
