Screenshot from my in-dev game, which runs on my Android phone (a Samsung Galaxy) and uses Shockbolt's tiles (with his gracious permission):

It's not a *band nor even a roguelike, but it is a dungeon game.

    Some notes:
    • the characters at the bottom are your party
    • the monsters at the top are enemies
    • the orc has just been hit for 2 (and killed, and is about to disappear)
    • please imagine a nice frame around the scrolling message area, a pretty title at the top of the screen, and nicer buttons to bottom right.

The gameplay is real-time. The mobs line up at the top of the screen and attack you with various abilities (for example, a naga can spit at you, whack you with a sword, paralyse you with its gaze or summon snakes). Your characters can use counter-abilities (e.g. blocking a sword blow, using a counterspell against paralysis) and can use their own special attacks as well. When you have six characters and there are six monsters attacking you, each with its own abilities that need to be countered within 2-3 seconds, it becomes quite fast and furious.

Building a party is quite fun - there are about 100 abilities to choose from, you need to cover (most of) the basics but there are various ways to do it. This party of six 6th level characters includes two DPS warriors (front left deals damage and blocks physical attacks, front right just deals damage), a tank priest (front middle, who pretty much just stands in the front row and taunts the mobs), a healer (rear middle, he automatically casts healing spells whenever necessary so takes up very little of my attention), a glass cannon wizard (rear left), and a thief (rear right, he specialises in shooting enemy spellcasters whenever they open their mouth, which pretty much shuts most of them down).

Cool - I'll send that once I have refined my list and made sure I'm asking for the right things. Also, I need to get over the weirdness of actually asking for stuff rather than stealing it

I just want to thank Shockbolt for producing these tiles, he supplied them to spec, on a fast turn around, and the quality is of course superb as always. All hail the legendary Shockbolt!

If you happen to be doing tiles, and if you happen to feel like doing some for FAangband, I've got a reasonably good description now of what I have tiles for and what I haven't. I can't emphasise enough how voluntary this is.

I should mention, too, that my current character has been played using your tiles, in the Linux SDL port, with a ratio of 4 high to 3 wide. Here's a screenshot:

I don't disagree - I just think there are more worthy causes at the moment.

Will think about this more after I get the next version of Unangband out.

1380 monster races x up to 64 monster ego types (maybe more, if I get class egos working)
13 classes x 26 playable races x up to 32 styles (more if you include substyles like Pyromancer)

In reality, it is probably more like 2 to 3 times the level of effort of Angband, since e.g. the 1011 features includes features which look identical to other features.

    2 new classes

About 75-80 different monsters, mostly dragons, hydras and ainur and player ghost templates.

I still have the old object set used in Angband for many years. I don't know now many types of weapons and armor Angband deleted (low priority, as I would rather delete weapon/armor types than not have a complete tileset if it becomes too large of a project.)

A couple more flavors of wands/potions/amulets/rods.

The main thing is the terrain. NPP has about 200 different types of terrain, including new types of traps, runes, and temporary spell effects (many of which you have already drawn tiles for use when spellcasting). So that's about 130-140 tiles, since you have already drawn the standard ~65 that Angband already has.

2-3 different spell powers not found in Angband that can be cast as spells.

Assuming you are willing to take that on and when/if you are ready, please let me know what I can do to help get you started.
Rob/Bob Fiala contacted me a while ago regarding the terrain tiles, so I got a list of those, basically the terrains that David Gervais has in his tileset.

I'll put up new threads myself, and hopefully the discussion for each variant stays within it's thread, for easy reading
