That's incredible!
I want the 'Frying Pan of Eggs' in the game right now.
Do you envisage it as a snack, or a weapon?

Sounds great! I discovered your post only now, after my last tile preview post. When you are able to, please make a list of the needed tiles and send it my way. If you would like to have the opportunity to text chat via Skype, feel free to add me there, it seems to be a nice and fast way to communicate rather than e-mails and messages over the forum.Leave a comment:

Hi Shockbolt,
I am going to respond to a couple of your posts regarding a tileset for NPP and wishing for an Ipad version of Angband here:
Diego and I are working on a QT port of NPPAngand that will eventually be playable on all major computer OSs (windows, MAC, Linux, etc), as well as tablets and smart phones (both Android and Ipads/IPhones). It is open source, and will always be playable for free. It is our hope that Vanilla Angband and other variants can be easily ported to the QT port as well. We are (hopefully) giving the Angband code-base game a 25 year update, for example, it has modern pop-up dialog boxes instead of overwriting the dungeon to prompt the player, and will eventually have touchscreen support. It is quite a big job, but we are probably about 75% of the way to a playable beta version for the computers/laptops. A version for tablets will come next, and then eventually smartphones once we figure out all of the spacing issues for playing on such a small screen.
NPPAngband now also contains a second game, NPPMoria, which is a fairly faithful re-creation of Moria 5.5.2 that has been around for 20+ years. Fortunately, many of the monsters and equiment in Moria are similar to those of Angband, so I was able to offer 8x8 and 32x32 tilesets for Moria with most tiles matching up pretty well, with only a few "repeat tiles".
However, there are a lot additional terrains, monsters, and objects between NPPAngband and NPPMoria that would need tiles in order for us to add the Shockbolt tileset. I have not done an exact count, but I suspect the final count would be around 300 tiles between all of the objects, monsters, and terrain features. But we know that would take a lot of time, and we are happy to pay you for your efforts. We want to do this partly because Diego and I badly want an NPP Shockbolt tileset to play on our ipads as well, and partly because we deeply respect your artwork and want to support it. We are not seeking "NPP exclusive" tiles. Anything you create would remain yours to own and distribute as you please. Of course we would want it to be added to the Angband-Shockbolt tileset as well.
I think you have already done several dozen of them. At one point you did male/female brigand and druid characters for all Angband races, and a couple NPP monsters.Leave a comment:

Fiddling around with a new 2.5D tileset, this is how far I got tonight:

Feel free to use the current Angband-Shockbolt tileset for NPP, as long as NPP is a non profit project
I can help create new tiles for you for free, if they can also be added to the Angband-Shockbolt tileset as well.
If the new tiles need to be exclusive for NPP, then I've charged $10 in the past per tile for other games/variants (up to sizes 128x128 pixels or 128x256 for taller tiles).
Typically I spend 10-30 minutes on a tile, so I won't get rich from painting them, but every dollar of income helps towards purchasing software upgrades and hardware upgrades on my end

I'm happy to see that my taller than 64x64 tile monsters have been added to the game now...what we lack now is a proper way to display my 2.5D wallsLeave a comment:

It felt really awkward to begin with, being used to collecting as much valuable items as possible before "word-of-recalling" back up to town to sell the stuff, and hopefully find stat potions to spend the gold on.
It takes some time getting used to I guess, playing Angband with my first char this way now, haven't really made up my mind about it just yetLeave a comment:

It seems some players think, it is a good idea, I don't.
It is true, no selling takes away the sometimes thedious collecting and selling of stuff and frees also a few slots because you don't have to carry that dagger of slay dragons only to sell it later.
OTOH, sometimes in the late game, when I have to decide what to keep and what to loose in my home, I sell some stuff to the shops and still have a chance to buy it back shortly after, if I happen to find something in the dungeon that would make me change my decision. That's not possible with no selling. You can only throw away stuff and it is gone once you leave town.
Then again, not having to worry about keeping and selling stuff in midgame is also nice; in exchange for loosing the selling option you will get more gold from fights, treasures, and veins.Leave a comment:

Most people after giving it a decent go prefer it this way, and the devs believe the game is more fun if you spend more time in the dungeon using the stuff that you find and less time holding onto gear that is useless to you just so you can sell it later.Leave a comment:
