Aaah ... where do the days go? (Day 633) This guy is obviously a scumming build, even more so than usual, though I am not sure if I will not elevate my scummy habits from now on. I finally worked out a macro sequence to greatly expedite town scumming. It optimizes for play time at the expense of in game time, of course, but I was able to view a BM restock every 1s or so, and pick out choice stuff. Surely, this beats stat gain ... and I only spent 10,000,000 gp this way.

Phase 2 is about to commence, and that involves scumming the top of the Dragon's Lair until I am ready for the Cloning Pits. At some point, melee will become an option, but not yet. This phase should start producing artifacts, and perhaps, my 4th book (Nature's Wrath is pretty common).

Phase 3 is quite a bit later, and melee is absolutely required for that. Wall of Stone, Passwall, and my Time Resistance ring should be all I need for some really massive scumming delights. I plan to spend 5 hours in this phase, just to be really really obnoxious!

Too bad you can't just scum your way thru the entire game to the Serpent :D

17 elemental dragons down ... and the 5 easy D uniques. I've picked up Nain, so I suppose melee could be an option, but I want Hammerhand and either Cambeleg or Fingolfin first. Right now, I have 3% fail on wall of stone, so I could probably do the Cloning Pits. But there is no hurry ...

Goal for Scumming Phase 2 is 100 dead dragons.

We interrupt the dragon scumming to bring you the Cloning Pits. So far, so good. I got everybody walled off, and now I just need to cleanup the easy parts of the quest, walling off as I go. The Its and Gachapins are bound to get out, so I'd rather they stay bottled up when they do so.

Its pretty embarrassing for a telepathic spectre to be wearing a crown of telepathy ...

Ah! Piece of cake :) I got a few goodies, like a crown of might and an alternate shooter. Ring of Speed +4 is not really compelling, as the boots should give me enough speed for the time being (+9 base). Lesson of the pits is to always bring a mushroom of restoring down with you. I drew a Color Out of Space, and did get drained. Fortunately, I had Brilliance which sustains Int, and I also didn't get drained so much that I lost my 3rd attack (I think I came close, though).

Back to the dragons, as I still have 60 or so to go ...

With my 4th book, courtesy of a convenient quest, I now adopt a pure mage stance, leading with my 160hp 0% fail Whirlpool. Its powerful enough to kill Tiamat, who dropped Hammerhand. Pretty sad spoils for such a big dragon ...

Lucky dungeon finds so far include _ManaStorm, -Rockets and -Disintegrate, none of which I was able to obtain from 600+ days town scumming. I should really go get a second _ManaStorm from the Volcano and start carrying them around. They are good for finishing off uniques ...

Finally, what I need at last! I'd prefer the crossbow from Brand, but his sword provides the elusive Light resistance I seek. I've been switching back and forth between melee and pure magic approaches, but alas, I do about the same damage per round with Whirlpool at 163 then I do in battle, with my low accuracy. Plus, killing the Invisible Pink Unicorn with a 70+ sp Nature's Wrath and limited magical devices to eat suggested I switch away from melee, where now the cost is only 45.

Probably, I should dive in Angband to DL80, and scum a bunch of rockets, but that would cause me to fail a quest, I think ...

Time to implement "Phase 3" of my evil plan in earnest. After picking up Werewindle with its super sweet LiDi resistances and Rg to boot, I worked my GWoLaw that I had previously bottled up to great effect. But, alas, GWoSpaceTimes ended the party, once I ran out of *destruction*. Lacking any !RestoreLifeLevels also sucked ... But I picked up Dwarves, a decent dragon shield, a nice RoS +11 and some other booty, along with 3 experience levels (I think).

This time, I am prepared, and will kill those pesky Space Time wyrms when they show up! Goal: 100+ Sky Drakes! (Only 10 down so far, and killing them with Whirlpool is an exercise in patience. You will get breathed on 20 times or so and need to heal 20 times before you kill one!)

17 Sky, 11 Space Time, 34 Balance, 52 Law. 1 RoS. Still, Elendil is my best light source. Both of these facts are a bit unusual, as I would expect the Jewel by now. Still, as Djabanete says, I should be "Patient"!

I'm on the lookout for a poison needle to see if that is more effective than Whirlpool. I tried using a Diamond Edge in melee, but it took 23 rounds to take a single star off a Law wyrm ... So something like 10-20 hp damage per round. I guess my accuracy is only 5% or something ... sigh.

Ooops ... I nearly died! I've been killing Space Time wyrms out in the open using Nature's Wrath (since it is hard to get them off of the walls for my ball effect spells). But one summoned 2 greater dragons and a bile wyrm was hovering nearby. I tried to *destruct*, and failed despite my Legendary[15] magic skillz. The party took me down to 10hp in a collective effort to piss me off. Next *destruct* worked, and I'm none the wiser :)

4 more RoS since last post, together with Laputa and the Jewel, so things are starting to normalize. I worked skill up to beginner with the diamond edge and still only hit 1 in 3 for about 50 hp/round, so my spells completely dominate my melee prospects at the moment. I'll need a pretty darn good weapon together with the harness of hell and a ring of extra attacks or something to change things around.

Pretty quick CL50 for a mage ...

OMG! The Poison Needle is supremely effective for this kind of scumming. Actually, I'm having a rather hard time getting enough Sky Drakes going ... I really wish they would summon more often! Occasionally, the needle takes a long time to work, but on average, I'm doing more melee damage poking monsters with this tiny little pin prick then I could ever hope to do otherwise ... Even +3 attacks (ring) and +1 attack (Shiva's armor) and Vorpal Blade would be laughable by comparison! Dishing out 6k damage in a single strike rules!! Too bad the needle doesn't work on uniques ...

14.3 Mxp in 12:22. Sky Drakes are 50k a pop ... How many should I kill?

20.6 Mxp ... It will take a while to get to 100 Mxp, but only because Sky Drakes "breed" so damn slowly. If only they would summon 1d1 and only summon other Sky Drakes. Instead, I have to waste time killing wimpy Law dragons and such. Sigh.

The needle is too effective. 50-60 rounds to kill a sky drake with Vorpal Blade. 5-10 with the needle. Often, I will roll 3 or 4 very quickly, and they almost never have time to summon. So, when they get low in numbers, I switch to the pathetic long sword which is so sloooow to kill them, they can't help summoning more friends for me to play with.

82 Sky. 103 Balance. 152 Law.

Master of the arena, a true champion. And yet, I have not even entered Angband yet. Gee, I hope I can handle those early quests :)

I'll pick up Scumming Phase 4 when I first spot the Cyber-dude. Hopefully, that will be quicker then Sky Drakes, which grew tiresome ...
