I've been trying something different with this one - to win with the lowest possible kill count. Figured level 30 would be enough to enter Angband, so when I got there after nine kills, I maxxed nature and put one point in udun, and since then have been genociding everything. Of course by scouring the lower levels of Mandos, looking for stat potions and powerful artifacts, I've also found a lot of potions of experience, enough to reach level 46! So what do you think? Can I win the game with just three more kills? (Necromancer, Sauron, Morgoth). I'm pretty confident I'm powerful enough to take them on at this point, and any non-uniques I run into along the way can just be genocided...

Oops. Duh, more than one point in udun! That's the usual strategy, with sorcerors. This one was special though as rangers can't start by worshipping Melkor, it has to be done by praying at an altar. I knew it was possible though when the very first item I found was a scroll of summon never moving pet, which brought a skull druj, which in turn summoned several more very powerful pets which I was able to use to clean out a small vault, getting the unholy tome and the sling at the start of the game!
