Darn dragon! Also, a bunch of orcs that filled up an entire "vault" came back after running away hundreds of turns ago...

Updated. Just found a HA item which will make those pestering invisible creatures a bit easier... Now I need to resist light/dark/blinding somehow...

Got a few more gain stat potions, misssed out on an Augmentation potion at the black market due to lack of funds... Need two more spellbooks. Going a level deeper or so per day now. When will the darn *** dogs go away! :)

Just found Orome and Thorongil. Orome ROCKS for a Mage at this level. +4 INT!

More gain stat potions. Reached 4 blows per turn with my spear of orome. killed a bunch new uniques, found a couple new artifacts. Trying to find those darn stone trolls with names... :)

Almost maxed out my stats...

Maxed all stats (maybe did last update), found a bunch of new artifiacts, just sitting at 2000 feet right now finding artifacts and whooping some general arse. Problems: sound still hurts me here, just found the chain mail for nexus, but it encumbers my movement (about 20-30 mana), no good gloves yet at all. Ax speed with chain mail +18, max with Thalkettoth +21 (spell-induced). Two more levels for mana storm, which I assume will whoop much monster butt. Mass banishment seems to banish most? monsters from the level, and chaos strike seems to be a good spell, but haven't really used that or MBan more than once each... Any suggestions for my character?

I would try and wield the trident of wrath. Great weapon IF you can wield it (heavy). You would up your strength by two and still have 18/200 intelligence. Definitely be on the lookout for Caspanion. Once you have that then you can ditch holhenneth for Thranduil. Also, ID that robe of elvenkind!

On 27.9.2003 16:24 dhegler@bfca.com wrote:
Thanks for the advice! Is there ANY advantage of having stats above 18/200? Does that affect my spell fail rate at all? I'll look up Caspanion and hopefully I will find that and Cubragol eventually...

Darn memory mosses and a few other monsters blanking my mind (and me not paying enough attention to them!) I do need a few few more *Identify* scrolls...

On 30.9.2003 15:30 loefftj@yahoo.com wrote:
Stats over 18/200 definitely help. HP are maxed when con is over 200. Spell fail rate -> 0% and mana is maxed when int over 200. But after 200 the benefits decrease. At 18/260 you got loads of int to spare (too smart?). Didin't notice your con is only 18/90. I would definitly ditch the RoInt and find a RoCon ASAP! A +5 RoCon would bring you up to 18/140 con. That would be a HUGE hp boost.

On 30.9.2003 15:35 dhegler@bfca.com wrote:
OK, so basically, benefits greatly decrease over 18/200... I will have to find something with benefits to CON instead of INT... I did find a +6 CON ring yesterday, but died! I also saw the most enormous monster vault yet - ENORMOUS! But, got killed when I accidentally ran into a smaller animal pit and a greater basilisk and time vortex did not take kindly to my unexpected visit.

Raised my CON a bit with a roCON... Started to collect *Identify* to go over my inventory again.

Got a few new "toys". Evenstar gives me nether resist, but I'm missing regen... Discovered a few new artificats, dove down to 2500'. Goal is to dive a level per day of playing til I reach 3000...

On 10.10.2003 20:53 loefftj@yahoo.com wrote:
Ummm ... I don't think that Evenstar provides resNeth. It provides resLifeDrain. But they are not the same. Life drain is just one effect of nether. Evenstar will not shield you from the damage. I would definitely be wearing Thranduil over Holhenneth. The ESP (once you get used to it) is way good. Also if you still get 4 attacks without the =oSTR then I would swap for the =oSPD. Also, be on the lookout for Thorin.

Cheers,
Solas

That's what I though too, but I got nether bolted and I "held on to my life force" or something... Maybe that is just a chance and not full resist? Anyone know for sure?

Good advice - many thanks. I will check out my strength... The only problem with the helmet/cap is that I want RConf as well, although I may have missed something else that provided that resist.

On 10.10.2003 22:46 loefftj@yahoo.com wrote:
You have resCon from Isildur. Hold life provides "resistance" (not immunity) to life draining (V's, Grape Jellies, nether attacks ...). But not the damage associated with a nether attack. I am pretty sure that this is the case. Nether can be a difficult resist to find.

On 13.10.2003 13:39 dhegler@bfca.com wrote:
Ah, very true... Next time up, I use Thanduil... I got Isildur after I last tried Thranduil when a Night Mare gave me some trouble due to excessive Confusion...

Finally got Saruman... HEck of a fight, but got boring when I found I could mana storm him to death from around a corner I created. Got a few artifacts from him, managed to raise my CON a bit for more HP... Not doing too bad... Still plunging deeper and deeper into the dungeon...

Couple more artifacts, Level 50 now. I really like the new helm I found, but I have gotten so used to telepathy with Thranduil, I don't want to lose it.
