I'm trying again.

Mim gave me Celegorm and 2 armors of Resistance. I killed him with the Long Bow of Extra Might and Phase Door.

Perhaps I would have to dive slower.

I just found Dor-lomin. It's heavy but it allow me to use Hurin.

I need help!!!

Should I swap the Ring of Constitution (+72 hp) for the Ring of Resist Poison? Soon I will be with AMHDs. The magic book of Resistances is sufficient?

I would make a couple of swaps. I would use Barukheled instead of Hurin for the extra Con. Swap the =Con for the =oRPoison. Swap Bard for heavy Xbow. Bard has the same power plus you get a slight speed and dexterity boost.

AMHD's and drolems can be bad. Especially since drolems aren't detected by ESP. So even with Dor-Lomin you can stumble on them.

Good luck

Thanks for your help. I have less hit points but I'm still alive.

I already found 5 Raals (I'm using it a lot) but none of the other dungeon books (I would like to find Mordenkainen).

Undead beholders are very hard to kill. I'm teleporting them away so far.

I found a greater vault of type "Roundabout two" on dlvl 51. I teleported away a Dreadlord and Tselakus because I don't have rNether.
I killed Ar-pharazon, the Lernaean Hydra, Uriel and Atlas (the last gave me a bitter fight). I use Meteor Swarm, Runes of Protection and Bard.
I found only Turmil after that. I hope not to have lost an artifact when I teleported away monsters that gather objects.

I'm looking for a source of rNether.

I don't think that monsters can pick up artifacts. They can pick up other nice things ... boots/=oSpeed, armour of elvenkind, dungeon spell books ... but not artifacts. Before you tackle a vault I would definitely cast detect enchanted objects and see if it is worth pursuing. Just keep TP'ing those beholders away. They are dangerous and they never drop anything worthwhile.

Good luck.

Clvl 50 finally.

A nice dracolisk droped Kelek and Colluin.

A tactical question:

Do you think that killing uniques with Runes of Protection and LOS abuse is cheat?

On 7.4.2004 17:05 loefftj@yahoo.com wrote:
I think that LOS abuse is a bit cheesy but I use Runes a lot. I am an advocate for game modification on both fronts. I typically do not use LOS abuse, pillar dancing, or hack-n-back techniques. Personally, I base some technique use on monster intelligence. A unique or ancient dragon certainly wouldn't let itself be continually beat on while walking in circles. Now a golem or a skeleton might. They are just dumb animated creatures. Just my opinion.

I just finished a SUPER level (65):

First, I killed Azriel without LOS abuse, just a corridor filled with Runes and potions of Healing.

Then I found a Undead pit (the second with this character) with several Demilichs, Archlichs and 2 Black Reavers. I used a couple of Sea of Runes and Mana Storm with them.

This level also had a few wyrms and Hoarmurath of Dir.

I collected a nice reward: Luthien and Balli. I leave Anguirel, Rilia and Holcoleth.
Also i found a RoS (+8) and a amulet of Trickery (+3). The last allow me to swap the RoS for Barahir (rPoison).

The bad thing is that I remained with few potions of Healing.

I have a dilemma:

Should I wear Isildur for AC ~200 or the light armor of Elvenkind for SP ~400?
Isildur leave me with 378 SP and Rohirrim with 388 SP.

On 8.4.2004 22:20 loefftj@yahoo.com wrote:
I would wear the elvenkind. Isildur has nothing you need. Or Rohirrim for the additional strength bonus.

I am diving fast thanks to Mana Storm and Rune of Protection.

I killed a few OOD uniques such as Maeglin, Ancalagon and Lungorthin.

I just found a armor of elvenkind that give me rNether. It allow me to wear Narya only with the greater fire monters and strike the greater undeads with more speed and reduced mana penalty.

I'm carrying Belthronding and a cloak of protection to compensate the lack of rDisenchant and rShards.

On 15.4.2004 01:21 diegogl@topmail.com.ar wrote:
How important it's speed?

If I wear Celebrimbor and Isildur I can wear the rings of power and gain all resistances, but I lose speed (+21 vs. +33 unhasted). Only Kronos and Gothmogh are alive.

What do you think?

On 15.4.2004 16:37 loefftj@yahoo.com wrote:
Other people will probably disagree with me but I think unhasted of +20 is enough. I think Morgy is +30. So once you are hasted up he shouldn't be able to get a double move on you. Beyond +30 the speed benefits are minimal. The only question is whether you want to take the chance on the temp speed running out. Personally I would rather have the elemental immunities. JMHO.

Finally, my second victory.

I remember to be chased by Sauron while I was casting Create Doors until reaching a corridor with runes.

After watching the knowledge screen I realized that I lost only Orome and Bloodspike.

Morgoth invoked mana storms only a couple of times and I used only the staves of the magi to recharge mana. He droped Nain.
