This has happened to my @'s many times. Casting a mass banishment without sufficient hit point strength to account for all the monsters banished is, literally, suicide for the @.

This wasn't the case, though. In this case, it was a function of two dragons breathing at opposite directions. @ died, another dragon died, and the program processed the drop from dragon #2 after death...

PCB, I was just a few minutes into a game, playing a feeble mage and I stepped on a trap that insta killed him. In mild disbelief, I said out loud, "Oh man!" And then the random tombstone message that got generated was my words exactly
