I really think you should keep the version string as simply DaJAngband x.y.z; "semi-variant" sounds like you are excusing your effort (and won't attract any playtesters!) and of course it's based on Vanilla, it is an Angband variant after all...

...the term you are looking for is "forked" from Vanilla 3.0.9e (which codebase you started with) and really this information needs to be in the release notes, not particularly the character dumps; of course it's up to you.
