Yipeee! My first win. Morgoth was easier of what i expected even tho it almost kill me once, but Butthead saved my hide.

I'm not sure id i want to go void diving, i maxed air and i think i should have maxed fire instead.

I had a few close calls caused mainly by getting over confident, however Drakula never fall below 20% of his hitpoints.

It was fun overall.

Interesting skill point usage. My mages usually just max mana and manathrust everything to death. Lately, I max thaumaturgy and just roll the dice to see if I get a medium to high level view spell that is good. My last one worked out well. I'm kind of shocked you used a mana staff of power instead of a wizardry, or at least staff of mana. 1300 mana was enough for you? I think I'll go see what spells hit for with maxed spellpower and staff of power +10.

My last guy, a yeek thaumaturgist, got mimicry and used two staves of wizardry +4 (80%). Though one of them got destroyed in a trap and I only had a +3 backup.

Congrats on your first win!

Thanks.

A level 80 manatrust isn't bad at all, it also makes all other spells quite strong withouth investing too much into each skill. FF helped me get even better spells, withouth FF this guy would have been completely diferent.

I don't like thaumaturgy much because it's too random for me and i'm a control freak. 1300 SP is not a lot really, but it's good enough if you are careful and not too greedy.

I was looking for a Magestaff of wizardry (+5) but never found one. I found a +4 but forgot to pick it up.

For some reason, when I've been playing my non-sorcerer mages, I seem to have forgotten about upping spell power. I'll have to fix that oversight in later characters. I'm a big fan of random stuff, and so I like thaumaturgy a lot. Though I admit it's a bit frustrating when you don't get a good view spell. It's pretty heavy on mana also, which is why I probably think 1300 isn't a ton.

Man, when is ToME 3 beta coming out? I'm kind of bored of 2.3.4.

Yeah! Thaum eats mana like popcorn, i have played thaum based sorcerors but i have never really gotten very far because of that.

Looking at the state of T3 i believe it will take a while until it's ready. And i think they are taking away a lot from T2 so i'm afraid they might take out some of the fun. But will have to wait and see...

Yeah, the whole make-it-exactly-like-tolkien thing is a bit stupid in my opinion, but I'm not running stuff. I like ToME because it's skill based system, variety of classes/races, not because its storyline is based on Tolkien. Sorry if that offends you. :)

One of the traditional glories of Zangband, and somewhat Angband, was that it brought in monsters from every fiction imaginable. Oh well, I'll have to go to some other variation of Ang or Zang probably. Life goes on.

Well, it doesn't offend me and i kind of agree. I don't care much about Tolkien.

Hmm. At least there are some modules wich follow the great path that ToME set so not everything is lost. I don't care much about Angband either.

And in the worst case, ToME is almost opensource so someone could fork it if the need arised.

But... We will have to wait and see. Or influence T3 development someway :-).
