Just a note, but you do know that Dodging is completely useless when you're wearing ANY armor, right? (i.e. boots, helm, armor, cloaks, gloves, etc)

Thought having 50 Dodge is pretty decent against all physical attacks.

*SMACKS SELF* You know, the reason I tried bumping up the Dodge skill was because I was looking at *your* character Peona. Obviously I didn't look closely enough!

So the 50 Dodge is why you managed to survive with AC 16? And do I need to scum FF for Barehanded combat in order to use Dodging?

*sighhh* (this is an old dump, I have dodging up to 27 now...will update momentarily.)

Depends on how deep you want to go. 50 Dodge with no barehand is pretty good for to around dlvl 70, but for deep Angband, you really should have some Barehand too.

The real trick is trying to get all resists from just rings amulet, light, and bow. I'm still scumming for those.

Yup, that is the obvious problem. I'll keep an eye out for an appropriate FF quest. (More sighs.) I also notice you've got Antimagic going, too.

I have to sit on Thalkettoth until I find another source of rfire. And Maedhros is terribly tempting, but I've got Nimthanc leveled up now, so..... :-) Hm, I just noticed it's giving me invisibility now, so I can ditch Smeagol's ring for rfire if I can find one... hmmm..........

Actually, I kinda regret the Antimagic thing, because it's not strong enough to negate all magic attacks, and it's a pain because you can't heal or teleport very well. I'd turn down Antimagic if I were you.

I had been wondering about that.

The one thing I *wish* I had was the corruption that allows controlled anti-teleportation. One of my other characters got it accidentally, and it was FANTASTIC. (Who needs the Anchor? ;-)) But it's not worth risking Troll's Blood for.... :(

Done with Mirkwood, got the house in Gondolin and did the essence quest and the Minas Anor library quest. I decided to do the Maze quickly before doing the 2nd Bree quest and going after Aol. (I still can't decide if I want to do the poisoned water quest... the one time I got a character up this high, I *did* beat that one, but dang was it a pain!) Then the Minas Anor quest, then... hmmm, I'll either go for Sandworm or Illusory Castle, poke my nose into Helcaraxe (for some reason I don't like that one too much) and then think about Mordor...

I really want to finish out a decent medium-level kit, though.

Helcaraxe is horrible unless you have resist cold. Moria is nice if you haven't done it (nice and easy, lots of weak monsters and decent treasure). Then, when you're high enough in level and have double resistances (via potions etc.) take on the Sacred Land of Mountains.

In any case, I would tackle weaker dungeons looking for randarts until you've got the power to take on nastier foes... Have you tried Rhun/Cirith Ungol yet?

New dump -- and that 2nd ROS is burning a hole in my pocket!

Well, I've beat the Bree Nazgul and Aol, and am a good way through Helcaraxe (and yes it rots, even with rcold....) I haven't hit Moria or the Sandworm lair yet with this char.... would you recommend Sacred Land vs. Sandworm, or by that time is the Sandworm Lair just not worth it?

One of these days I'm going to cash in those scrolls of acquirement, too.... haven't tried getting in to Angband lately.

No, I haven't tried Rhun or Cirith Ungol yet, at least not with this character.

I don't think Spread Blows is necessary for Assassin, because you can't really get enough hits for it to count (i.e. read 20+ from Unbelievers, Weaponmasters, etc). If your final number of attacks is below 15 (even with a +8 RoExtraAttacks), then forget about it.

Helcaraxe done.
Sacred Land done...oy, yawn.
Sandworm Lair done.
Got (much to my amazement) the Control Spacetime Continuum corruption (yeehaw!!!)
Nimthanc got Drain Life :) but I'm terrified it'll get Earthquake next.

Been in Illusory Castle before (not with this char) and wanted something new, so here we are working down into Moria...

My kit could be better... I need rnether, rchaos and rdisenchant. I've got rings that could (separately) get the first two, but I hate to give up the speed. I'm afraid the lack of them is going to bite me in the behind, though.... :-/
