As for with another race, it is questionable. With the deathmold you can swipe things from vaults w/o entering them so it is merely swipeing every scroll till you ID summon never moving pet. And then collect those till you get a summoner that can actually get you some decent pet XP and get you enough skill point to make it into a companion.

I really didn't have to summon much I got 12 monster lore and made greater Qs or greater summoning dragons as companions. Had 2 gwop companions for most of the game once I got the gwop corpse. I didn't use any other body's since I wanted to use all the rings.
