First successful Mindcrafter.

I made a grievous error -- not maximising weapon mastery and combat, thinking I could survive with Mindcrafting and magic-devices only. Well, that didn't work. When I encountered Ungoliant as a princess quest, I was absolutely unable to mindwave her to death. So I WoRred up, went to Erebor and got some !oDetonations, which I threw at her, and she promptly died.

Survived Crypt, Dim Gates and Nameless, got the artifacts, and went to kill Sauron. Mistake no 1: Not bringing the Anchor. Mindwaving didn't do enough damage, so I whipped out the Glaive of Pain (levelled up to 37-ish), with which Sauron lost 50% HP after some minutes. (I had perfect (?) saving throw and plenty of potions of *healing*). Then he started teleporting away, and I followed him. The problem was that I could not attack him enough times to make a difference before he teleported again. Very time-consuming, so I gave up. Second attempt: Bought scrolls of Summon Never-moving Pet and got a Master Q. I had hoped its summons would take Sauron down to one star, or at least disturb him while I attack. No such luck. I didn't dare activate auto-clear messages (playing on a 14" screen on my vacation computer), and pets fighting generate so many messages that I didn't feel like sitting in a corner for 30-ish minutes clicking them away.

Then I thought about wands of fireflash and scrolls of recharging, but I hadn't accumulated any of them, and I didn't feel like going hunting, having spent 6 days already of my vacation getting where I was. Then I finally thought about the Anchor, but I thought "Bleh", quit the game and went fishing. So to speak.
