I wan't sure if I was going to get Morgoth on the first go but then he made the mistake of summoning special opponents. I had killed all the other uniques including the Nazgul. He got stuck in a corridor between Quickbeam and Treebeard. They took him down to one star and then I hopped in and finished him off.
This was the first game where I didn't find a single dungeon town. Alchemists are much faster to develop if they get access to potion and jewelry shops early on.

Oh yeah hop out and take a step on the worldmap before going back in so you get a good level every time. Sometimes remarkable items are right around the corner; I have found things like drum of the sky, potion of lore or one of the top scrolls/potions before.

I only do it with alchemists and sorcerors. FF skill points are too valuable for other characters.
