Are the damage values the same as Oangband's? damage? I just wonder because I have Razorback, which I would wield if I knew that I could avoid a lot of shard damage.
Thanks again.
Also I feel like Breathing storm does way too much damage.Comment

Good, because I think that Winged Dragons of Storm do much more damage with that Storm attack than they should. Maybe if they were worth more exp. But I've an easier time dealing with Smaug, or most other Winged Dragons including some which are worth more exp. But I actually like the fact that you can't just kill everything really easy...like in V. Great job on making the difficulty ramp up. I feel like the best games do this, a perfect example would be Cave Story. I just keeps getting harder and harder. A lot of games seem to reach a point where they level out until you finish the game. V tends to do this especially if you play a high elf warrior.Comment

So I decided to try something different from Vanilla for a bit, and downloaded FAAngband. And already I have a question: how do I get it to make use of the full-sized main screen? Right now it looks like this, which I'm sure you agree is a bit silly. And after all this time playing variants that support arbitrarily-sized main dungeon views, playing with anything else is downright claustrophobic.Comment

Go into interface options and set bottom_status to no, and see what that does.
It still looks a bit strange to me - is it V1.1.5?
Edit: Another question - does it still look like this outside the town? And I assume you are playing on OSX - is this correct?Last edited by Nick; December 1, 2010, 23:10.One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

I totally agree on High-elf warrior. My two winners are vanilla high-elf warriors. But i just figured out that mages can survive unless they fight orcs or wormtongue(actually he would be a pushover if not for him doing frost bolt twice in a row).Good, because I think that Winged Dragons of Storm do much more damage with that Storm attack than they should. I noticed the same thing about Calris. I got it up to +9 with no luck getting it uncursed that way, and then I went through 2 *remove curse* and then maybe 6 regular remove curse scrolls with no explosions.
I think Evil Iggy is a tribute unique to a player who kept finding ways to beat Moria. I remember coming across him while reading about the history of Moria and Angband. I think he is only evil in regards to the RNG who he often defied. It's really more like Cunning Iggy than Evil Iggy, I suppose. I would give him the same alignment of rogues and brigands whatever that is.You are on something strangeComment

Actually warriors are best for the early to mid game, because you can actual fight orcs off. Later on you really need to find ESP and/or detection. Rangers in V are a bit easier because you have detection spells and resist spells. Its just getting over the first 20 lvls without getting killed by orcs that you can't out run or phase away from. Mages in V are pretty hard until you get a lot of spell points/spell books. Then you can get rid of Z's or whatever else you don't want to deal with. FA makes you deal with Z's in vaults though...plus TO doesn't beam like in V. This can be either good or bad. Mostly bad IMO.Comment

Artifacts have a 25% chance of uncursing with every attempt. The first attempt has no chance of blowing up, but after that the chance of that is 25% too. So you were lucky, but not extraordinarily.
HM answered this oneEvil Iggy isn't evil. Seems odd.

That's very odd - mine doesn't behave like this at all. I wonder if it's an OS version issue - I compiled it and am running on Snow Leopard. What version are you using, and can you compile and run and see how it goes?Hm, better, but it's still not using the full screen.
And yes, this is the 1.1.5 OSX binary download. One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
