Here's an old one of mine:

    FA + "Ooog" DN L:42 DL:57 A+ R++ Sp w:Rog
    FA*/A/NPP/O/Po/St/Un W/L H- D c-- f- PV+ s- d++ P++ M+
    C-- S- I* So+ B+ ac GHB SQ? RQ+ V-/V+@ F:NPP notes, etc.

I just counted DL as the greatest danger level I'd reached, but it's up to you.

EDIT: A little furtehr investigation tells me that the Angband Code page was last updated 25 days before FAangband was first released...

"Danger level?" - you mean the highest level dungeon you've visited - as indicated on the larger map?

            Word of Recall clarification

I'm clearly assuming the wrong thing with Word of Recall. Here's the use case:
            1. I'm in Ossiriand Town
            2. Adventure out until I run out of supplies
            3. Use Word of Recall to return to Ossiriand
            4. Use Word of Recall to return to the last wilderness/dungeon

At step 4 I'm asked "Which recall point do you want to go to", and my only option is Belegost Town, not Ossiriand, where I'm at now.

I know Word of Recall can't work like it does in Angband, but I'm confused on the selection of recall points -it can't be a return to the last wilderness/dungeon I was in, with a recall the last town I was in?

How do you manage your possessions in your house if you can't control where the recall point is?

I'm probably missing something basic here - if there's something I missed in the help files can someone point me to the right section?

            Thanks!

I think what happened is when you recalled from the dungeon/wilderness, you opted not to choose a recall point. In a normal game you can set up to 4 recall points. If in the wilderness or dungeon or other town you recall back to your home town, but at your home town you can recall back to any of your 4 recall points. Next time you WoR while in a dungeon, other town or wilderness, make sure you set up a recall point if you want to be able to return there later. That's my best guess as to what happened in your situation here.

Yep. That's exactly what I did.

Thanks. I'll do that after I crawl my way back to where I last used WoR

                Appreciate the quick answer!

                  Hey Nick!

Long time I didn't play Roguelikes, and I had FA 1.10 for a while here... so I gave it a go. Started a "dungeon only" game.
I wouldn't expect to go so deep in one go (heh, just skipped a party to keep playing that char that refused to die o.o)... and then after killing Mim I couldn't find stairs down, wasted about 50k turns searching for the stair that might appear, going up and down, etc then I recall and come back to town, go to the shops sell/buy stuff, then go "huh, where's my home?" - town of Nowhere (/chills hehehe Then I see you had already fixed all those bugs in new releases I just found

I personally think the new jewelry and ID is nice; For now I am playing with Warrior. Will try other classes later. I found a nice ring with Identify activation at about dlvl 10 or so... and right now at dlvl 4x I am finding some awesome amulets with multiple resists that almost rivals artifact jewelry...
Overall it is easier than O, and the traveling merchant on dungeon-mode helps with lack of resources (personally I *NEED* lots of ?tele ^^) giving more of a true hack n/ slash feel than the almost survival horror that [O] was (don't get me wrong, I love both genres LOL)

Thank you man for your cool work on [FA]
                  Keep rockin
                  Daniel

                    FAangband map

IIRC there used to be a map (I believe it was a PDF file) of all FAangband locations, at least those above ground. Am I hallucinating or does that map exist somewhere? A search didn't turn up anything on Google or Bing, so I may be wishfully thinking.

Yeah - I've seen that one. But once you're in a wilderness area it's damn difficult to find where the nearest town in. My fault for not noticing I didn't have Word of Recall, LOL. But I thought, at one point, someone did a PDF map of all the areas. Could have been a different variant, though.

                        Thanks, Psi.

It should be in the top level directory, and it's called worldmap.png - provided courtesy of buzzkill.

                              Advice on next move ...

I managed to make it to Belegost - a 12th level Beorning Ranger with what I'm guessing is poor to adequate gear:
                              • A Short Sword of Melting (+4,+2)
                              • A Short Bow (+4,+2)
                              • The Lamp of Gwindor
                              • Soft Studded Leather (5,+3)
                              • Various potions and scrolls
                              • Stones of Nature Lore to cover my character level

I've not used a Scroll of Word of Recall, there are no arrows available in Belegost, and I'm carrying 80 now. Do I have sufficient spells and gear to keep moving up in difficulty levels? From Belegost I can move west or north, though that's 20 - 30 areas away from the next town. Probably too far, perhaps?

Not sure how my gear is stacked up to what I'm likely going to run into in areas level 11 - 58, when I hit my next town. Should I head south and stick to lower levels until I find additional artifacts or gold to purchase weapon enchantment scrolls?

                                Basically yes.

My next move from this position would be to head for Amon Rudh (via Ossiriand and Taur-Im-Duinath). I would also move house to Belegost, if you haven't done so already. As a Beorning you get a bonus to-hit in plains levels, and as a ranger you get easy movement through trees, so the plains levels just north of Amon Rudh are probably going to be a good hunting ground; I would be setting recall points in AR and on the plains, and dividing time between descending in AR and looking for better gear on the plains.

Mind you, at some point during this process I would probably die stupidly.
