I wasted a huuuge amount of skillpoints in the opening - midgame areas. Wasted them on sneakiness (which I dont need at all because of my antimagic). Also, I raised weaponmastery too high, causing it to max out at 50 too soon from the swordmastery skill. lessons:

-Never put anything into sneakiness if you're an unbeliever.

-Always keep your submastery *higher* than your weaponmastery and combat and then raise those two to 50 *after* submastery skill maxes out.

Still, this character has done quite well. At this point, I still have half my random quests left, and could get a few more fumblefingers. None of the special quests so far, including the Gondolin quests (including Maegelin), have given me the least bit of trouble. I even killed all the enemies on each of the Gondolin quests.

I created that artifact with a ?oArtifact Creation. I think it turned out pretty nice! Sharp, branded, and damaging. Plus the bonus to my antimagic is nice.

I'd love to get my spirituality higher, in order to round out my magic defense (which is what an unbeliever has goin for him), but I only have 3 more levels to go. Only 18 points left to gain. :(

Why not swap in Thandruil instead of your current helmet? Sure 100 AC is nice, but AC is not really crucial in Tome imho, on the other hand resist blindness is quite important.

Don't sweat the wasted skill points too much. Everyone blows it on their first few trips into the late game, and most people's first winners look like their skill points were assigned at random. Yeah, the character is more powerful when the skillpoints are put in perfectly, but you're doing great just as you are. Keep on trucking!

Yo Artagas! Small world. ;)

Yeah. I have a few resist holes. The idea is that with my antimagic (now) at 99% (I found a disenchanter mold and had it remove the +3/+7 to the sword), pretty much all the things that would do special effects now only hurt me if I take a melee hit. So, to protect against those, I need the high AC since my saving throw is pretty low.

On 25.3.2005 00:31 adam.coder@gmail.com wrote:
Lookin good at level 49. I traded my Rohirrim for a rand art that gives two immunities; however, it opened up a resist hole (sound). I'll probably have to spend some time searching a bit on the lower levels for something to patch that up (along with shards).

On 25.3.2005 15:52 meshelman@ssfl-law.com wrote:
A good Cloak of Prot instead of Thingol will clear up that shards problem. Be careful of the sound tho'. A Great Wyrm of Thunder just took out my Maia Haftmaster with antimagic 50 and
a ?oArtCreation'ed dark sword (" 'Ware Morgoth! I come for Grond!") ("What was that? I'm a little hard of hearing.") At least carry that =oArumagor thing as a swap for the =oSpeed. Go get 'em void diver!

Covered that res Sound hole. I still need res shards. Still having to carry around a ring of res shards. :P

Res shards isn't all that important. Just, don't get rocketed by Kronos and watch out for shard-breathing dragons (not too many)

Picked up another immunity by swapping some randarts. This guy is looking good despite what skillpoints I wasted on useless skills. We'll see if he's a winner. STILL dont have any useful res shards. Still carrying around the =oResShards for a swap. That extra darkblade of westernese seems to chop up Nazgul nicely, even though they're "invulnerable" to it. :P Funny though, the weapon that killled the Witch King was a westerneese in the books, I would be so brave as to say that they maybe *shouldnt* be 'invulnerable' to westernese weapons. All the same, the base damage is enough to dispatch them nicely, and Elissar wipes that black breath away after the battle.

Still havent found The One Ring. Killed all the uniques that could have it except that Al-Asldjfgsdfg dude in Numenor, and of course, Sauron. I dont breathe water, so I guess it's time to dive (further) into Angband and spam-kill Sauron until he coughs the ring up.

I did find that nice artifact in The Crypt, though. That was nice.

The random quests in Angband are deffinately interesting and exciting.

Finally destroyed The One Ring. Damn that was hard.

I was runnin on 10% hps with no sources of healing left -all my healing had been quaffed and my healing artifacts had been already activated. I was surrounded by two GWoP in the bend of the hallway on the far right hand side of the map. They were pretty far away. I kept moving back and forth between them to try to slow their advance while my WoR scroll was doing its thing. They continuously breathed on me, but I was immune to fire, cold, and acid, so I was just hoping that they didnt breathe lightning. Of course, Mass Genocide, Teleport and Destruction were no help to me on Mount Doom, so I was stuck just anxiously waiting for the WoR to take effect. Finally, it did, and I layed down and had a heart attack.

On my second trip in, I destroyed The One without any problems.

With my current kit, I have immunities to all the four basic elements. Unfortunately, my AC isnt too high. I can do some swapping around to get an AC above 200, but I lose my immunity to acid.

What do you think? AC 170ish with all immunities, or AC 200+ with no immunity to acid? Right now, I'm going with the immunity, but we'll see.

Definately get acid immunity over the higher AC.

Got it worked out now. I found some new randarts, did some swapping, and managed to get 200+ AC with all the immunities by sacrificing sustain Dexterity. My dexterity is so much higher than the max that I'd have to lose many points before it ever dipped lower than 18/***.

My first winner! Morgoth was pretty easy, but I bet that's just because I'm an unbeliever and he couldn't do any of his cool stuff like summon or mana storms. Anyway, wheee!
