Whew. I was really worried about Trone, but this time I handled him rather more carefully and he only got one round of attacks in before he went down. That was quite a level. Saruman was a bit of a pain, in that he teleported away to a spot that was only accessible to someone with mountain climbing. As fate would have it, Monotone found Thror's boots in the vault, so he was able to go hunt Saruman down. Also annoying was a bronze thunderlord that Monotone got down to just 1 star three different times only to have it teleport away. Monotone finally got it on the 4th try.

Major equipment reshuffle going on now. The Sandworm Queen's armor served Monotone very well for a LONG time, but its time to switch to Trone's suit. Getting everything covered is proving difficult, though. Monotone can have up to a base running speed of +49, up to 780 HP, up to immunity to both acid and fire, up to all resists covered, and up to 14 attacks per round, but he can't do them all at the same time. Decisions, decisions.

When I caught up to him, I once again had him in trouble when Atlas showed up and saved his bacon. I hate Atlas. He's like the uber-Hru. Well, that's that. I spent ages trying to find a level that had a vault with unbreakable walls, but wasn't too tough, and Morgoth. The plan was to clear the vault, then lure Morgoth in and fight him there. That way, he couldn't break my anti-summoning set-ups with his shatter attacks.

Eventually, I got frustrated and gave up on the plan, instead fighting him while standing on a void gate that went to an area I had already cleared (Cleared the room, went through the void gate, saw Morgoth, and thought "hmmm"). Worked great. Whenever Divine Aim ran out or Monotone was too badly beaten up, he went through the gate, recharged and came back. Morgoth really wasn't himself, though. He really didn't break out any of the big hammers - No hand of doom, no summon uniques or Nazgul. In fact, Morgoth only summoned once (greater demons) and Montone had a scroll of mass geno along for exactly that event. Almost anticlimactic really, it was maybe the 4th toughest fight in the game.

The fight along that long top hallway on top of Mt Doom was by far the toughest battle of the game for Montone because of the greater undead chain summoning. About halfway through, I really didn't think Monotone was going to pull it off. The first battle against Sauron, when Atlas showed up to help, was probably the second worst, and then the fight with Ancalagon was third.

Perhaps the Void next? With no cloak of air, probably not. I've already had enough fun with Yeek Bards trying the Void without a cloak of air.
