Fast fingering past a few rewards didnt help for the most part (I had 2 FFs follow me ~~); otoh, I also fast fingered past a princess quest which landed me Ringil (its unlikely that I would have chosen long sword reward).

A mage with high prayer is kindof ruined; otherwise, I might consider getting mana school up and play a mage.
