You should have a macro to post this whenever Ingwe produces a bug.

LOL. Sorry, no save file on the speed display failure to update. I've pretty much only posted savefiles for reproducable crashes. When I notice the speed display issue again, I will post one.

Speed update may very well be related to the failing AC update problem. That one only occurs at certain column/row size of main window. I get it with main window at NumCols=130, NumRows=51. See my earlier post for details.

I'm playing the competition character on the latest nightly and noticed a couple things.

@ will run past a trap in a room without being disturbed

Equipping an item in a slot with something already there no longer tells you what you were wearing. I think that one was reported before.

version-v4.0beta-250-g6a53a46. I'm losing charges off a stack of 3 staves of id by dropping 1 in the home then picking it back up. Started with 14 charges. drop 1. Now 10 in hand, 4 in home. Pick it up 10 in hand. Drop 7 in hand, 3 in home etc.

Okay, Nick, here is a savefile reflecting the speed display issue. @ is wearing a =Speed +8. @ just found Thalkettoth with speed +3, for a total of +11 speed. Upload the savefile and swap between the two armors, observing the speed display. It does not update properly. When you first wield Thalkettoth, display says +8, wield the regular magical armor and the speed updates for the previously worn armor saying +11 (from Thalkettoth even though it is now in the pack), switch back and forth several times and watch the speed display failure each time. This is on OSX. Hopefully you'll see what I mean. A redraw fixes the display. 174.zip

I think that was an earlier savefile - there is no Thalkettoth.

Damn! Sorry, I screwed up on the upload and the speed display is working again. Next time, maybe I'll get it right.

When you make a post-death character dump in 4.0, the "Saving as [filename]" line to say that it's been created successfully is appended to the Last Messages section, exposing info about the player's file structure in the publicly posted chardump. (I mean, in my case that's just "C:\Users\User\Documents\Games\", so all it's exposing is that I save program files in a stupid place and can't be bothered to change the default username, but people could potentially have personal details in their usernames if they're say, playing Angband at work. Not that anyone would ever do that.)

That's a good point and it should be changed. Not that I ever play Angband at work. Of course.

Not sure if it was intended or otherwise, but this fix has also affected the passable rubble in town, so if you're inclined you can dig it all out and score a few bonus starting items that way. (On the other hand, every time so far that I've found a potion that way it's turned out to be poison and I've died from quaffing it, so it's not completely a case of no-risk rewards.)

Side note: when did the town get the new weird layout? Is that a 4.0 thing or did I snooze through several updates?

I had the same feeling but just found a green potion under rubble. First time I can recall with the beta versions.
(edit) and now i just got "You remove the rubble. You have found something" ?Word of Wisdom.
(edit again) A few more finds under rubble. Seems to be working fine now.
