V 3.5 now in feature freeze

I realise a sample size of one can't be statistically significant, so I'm asking everyone else playing 3.5:
Is it just me, or is it raining artifacts?
I'm running a HT warrior and I'm finding it ridiculously easy (not that I'm complaining, but I'm really not very good).
If it's just me I'll sit back and enjoy the RNG's unusual generosity (and then die to the Terrasque OOD at dlvl 55).Comment

Btw, sad to see there isn't a new forum title at 5k posts!"Been away so long I hardly knew the place, gee it's good to be back home" - The BeatlesComment

Can't speak for the later game, but to add some more anecdata, I've had two randart warriors reach around 2000' feet and they both found one artefact each. So either the RNG likes you, it doesn't like me, or I keep dying just before the rain of artefacts starts.Comment

Oh, and I sacrificed a maddened weasel before I started.Comment

EDIT: I spoke too soon! Stats module gives an error whatever I do:
src/angband: Couldn't read from RWops: Is a directory
... not sure what that is, I couldn't fix it from a holiday cottage in Devon ;-)
Btw, also two errors in current master (32-bit Linux) a412a06096
main-stats.c: In function ‘term_data_link’:
main-stats.c:1778:15: warning: assignment from incompatible pointer type [enabled by default]
and
Running: tests/birth/new-game-0... Failed

"Is a directory" is almost certainly a message from strerror (or equivalent), but IIRC "RWops" doesn't occur in the Angband source at all... which means that something else is generating that message.Comment

Hang on... I've seen this, but for the life of me I can't remember what (if any) effect it actually has on anything. I seem to recall it just being a list of warnings and the game working normally after spitting these out.

takkaria whispers something about options. -more-Comment

I probably have, but why would this be a problem if the SDL module is never invoked and no calls are made to the SDL library? (Sorry if this is a really ignorant question) I've also compiled support for x11 and curses but there aren't any complaints from these libraries ...
EDIT: disabling sdl-mixer worked: 500k runs underway ...Last edited by Magnate; August 2, 2013, 09:11."Been away so long I hardly knew the place, gee it's good to be back home" - The BeatlesComment

While your half a million runs are...well...running, here is the result of my one run (so far).
To give you an idea of speed, I'm not a diver and I hit clvl50 at dlvl 75.
--------------------------------------
dlvl 0-8 nothing
9-20 paurhach, nimthanc,
21-40 elvagil, holhenneth, galadriel, nimloth, gondricam, maedhros, theoden,
narthanc
41-60 thorongil, turmil, haradekket, thorin, hadrin, himring, orome,
lotharang, ringil, berathiel, anarion, radagast, wrath, pauraegen,
hammerhand, thengel, thrain, thalkettoth, carlammas, colannon
60-70 celebrimbor, evenstar, barahir, aranrath (is this new, or have I just never seen it before?),
holcolleth, til-i-arc, firestar, Eriril, Taratol, Arvedui, Isildur, Careth Asdriag, Thranduil, Eorlingas, dal-i-thalion
70-80 erebor, gil-galad, ingwe, celeborn, belegennon, feanor (1st time ever!),
sting, aeglin, elendil, rohirrim
So that's 55 artifacts in total, in only 80 levels.
Is this normal?
If not, is it an issue or just very lucky?
I guess Magnate's results will give the answer...Comment
