Not bad for the first randart my warrior found this game:

    Code:
    a) the Main Gauche of Earada (1d5) (+18,+15)
Dropped by a young black dragon at 1550 feet (level 31)

Slays undead (powerfully), demons (powerfully), giants, animals.
         Branded with fire.
         Provides protection from blindness.
         Cannot be harmed by acid.
         Grants telepathy.

When activated, it grants temporary resistance to poison for
         1d10+10 turns.
Takes 33 to 36 turns to recharge.
Your chance of success is 94.2%

The levels beyond 100 were quite interesting. One I started in a very large lava cavern filled with dozens of greater demons. Later I found the Arkenstone of Gatang (+8, +7) which provides immunity to cold and rPoison. Between this, and the Cloak of Tiriand I found (+4, +7) my Long Sword 'Naenya' of extra attacks <+2> (+12, +21) (4d5) I'm doing 900 to not rPois, almost 800 to others, 1200+ to Undead and that's before I self haste and put on a RoD.

Today I have found the Robe of Helen. No wonder why she goes outside so lightly clothed: it gives her immunity to cold!

Of course, the Glaive of Pain isn't available in a randarts game, but even a puny 2d5 Longsword gets an extra 12 damage/blow on average, which is quite respectable from the amulet slot.

Acid brand is also pretty reliable; there's many dangerous enemies that aren't resistant to acid. Sauron is of course the most notable of these. I mean, yes, many brands are not as helpful. The only really useful ones in the endgame are acid, evil, undead, demon, and maybe dragon -- which leaves poison, frost, fire, electricity, animal, orc, troll, giant...what am I forgetting? Anyway, there's plenty of non-useful brands. But that doesn't mean that all off-weapon brands are useless.
No, not all off weapon brands are always useless. But why do you state that in such a way as to make it look like it contradicts my post ?
All I am saying is that I often find off-weapon brands in my randart games, but that I rarely end up using them because most of the time, other items are better in that slot. Rare != never.

Tried using this in Radh's first bout against Sauron, and got teleported off the level when he was at 50%. Came back later with Trickery for the ResNexus. It's memorable because it provides an off weapon brand but still manages to not be helpful in the kit.

    the Jewel of Romelen <+1>
Found lying on the floor in a vault at 4900 feet (level 98)

    +1 light.
It brands your melee attacks with acid.
    Provides resistance to acid.
    Radius 1 light.

Ah, thanks. So I havee seen a nonexistant pattern in too small a sample.

At first I thought that maybe aggravation reduces the power value, but the values of aggravating BTs dont seem consistently lower. Maybe its just a bug ? If anyone code-wise has a clue or idea of what is going on, I´d be very interested.

If you make an html screenshot or a character dump you can copy-paste from that. Not sure if there's a simpler way.

Those slippers are pretty powerful, just a bad impedance match with the usual need for speed in the boots slot.
