Just the thing for my mage. It's Angband 4.1.3, in case anyone is wondering. Oh, and the activation is unusual: when I use it, the game says, "You breathe a missile."
    You breathe a missile. Nice

The great thing about that ring is you don't have to go through the standard hand-ringing of speed vs. stat-stuffing on your fingers.

    It clearly says:
    "Why not both?"

Uhh, first weapon of any use

Prior this, only had found maybe 4 different basic slay weapons, nothing useful. Then, on DLVL 21...

    a) the Trident of Ladion (2d10) (+16,+15) [+2] <+4, +1>
Dropped by an Easterling champion at 1050 feet (level 21)

    Prevents paralysis.

When activated, it heals 1200 hit points, cut damage, and cures
    stunning, poisoning, blindness, and confusion.
Takes 132 to 178 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 95.9%

    Combat info:
    1.1 blows/round.
With +4 STR and +0 DEX you would get 1.3 blows
With +0 STR and +1 DEX you would get 1.3 blows
Average damage/round: 79.2 vs undead, dragons, and demons, 51.4 vs
giants, trolls, and orcs, 37.5 vs evil creatures, and 23.6 vs.
    others.

I'm sorry, triple execute and slay most stuff and evil on top, rPoison, activate for *Heal*? XD Why thank you rng.

edit: not life, but still awesome activate

    b) the Long Bow 'Giniel' (x6) (+21,+30) <+6, +3, +1>

    +3 shooting power.
    +1 light.
Provides resistance to Fire, Cold, Dark.
    Provides protection from confusion.
Cannot be harmed by Acid, Fire.

When activated, it teleports you randomly about 60 per cent of the
    largest distance you could go.
Takes 151 to 167 turns to recharge at your current speed.
Your chance of success is 95.9%

Best bow I have seen yet, in the newer versions - and yes, found by a ranger! Although, with that hilarious +6 int bonus, a mage wouldnt say no either.
It is missing a brand for the "perfect" bow, but then branded bows arent all that valuable because you can get the brand from the arrows.
