There we go. The Golem's intrinsic RPois and extra AC made things easier, and of course the Extra Legs mutation was appreciated.

The randart Metal Cap "Stainless" is also very useful (it activates for Identify).

At the top of my wishlist currently are RDisenchant and RBlindness. Given that I'm at my current weight limit, is a Ring of Lordly Protection too much to hope for? ^^

Well, the RoSpeed from the Cloning Pits plus Shiva's boots helped me complete Old Castle without too much problem, although it was an annoying game of whack-the-mole at the end with a Rotting Quyulthug.

Winning against the Babble is looking less likely, with my WIS max at 18/70, and a total of -3 to WIS from race/class/personality. So that's 18/40. The Mirror, the Jewel, and Amber are good for raising that by +9; Holcolleth or Luthien would make it +11, for a grand total of 18/150. With an Amulet of WIS +6, that makes it 18/210.. assuming I can get to this point before getting Moronified.

Hi Chris! I don't think Sexy is all that much harder than anything else for me, because I explicitly use the Sewer, the Tower, and the Killing Fields quests to level up until Clvl 31 or 32. The only hard part before hitting Clvl 32 is the Vault Quest, which is indeed a bit trickier because of Sexy, but it can be done with >50% accuracy with 2 !oSpeed, 2 !oHealing, and 2 !oResistance, assuming that you have FA and a decently large pool of !oCCW, ?oTeleport, and ?oPhase Door. (Though I did get cut down once recently by Botei-Building).

The other thing is, Sexy is great for a Monk in the early game, because it allows you to use a Whip and get 3 blows until your Monk fists become good (around Clvl 12, right after the Warg Quest).

So my level 62 quest was Bleys, but lo! I spotted Brand. Well, an extra +10 speed would always be nice (especially since I don't have any haste-self spell), so I decided to take on Brand first. Managed to kill him without too much trouble, but he cursed me upon death, paralyzing and summoning a Solar. When I unfroze, I had to quaff a !oHealing but then managed to kill the do-gooder.

Unfortunately, checking the loot showed no Light Crossbow (x4), but did reveal a new type of Amulet, which turned out to be Faramir. The RConf will allow me to use Shiva's Jacket, but that didn't help at the moment since I didn't have the Jacket with me. Approaching Bleys showed Santa Claus as well, so I go ahead and Teleport Santa away first. And then...

*Low Hitpoint Warning!*
What!? 100 HP left? Wasn't I at over 500 HP the previous round? Checking the message log:

Jack of Shadows invokes a Darkness Storm.
*Low Hitpoint Warning!*
(lots of things destroyed)
Jack of Shadows invokes a Darkness Storm.
*Low Hitpoint Warning!*

Doh! Double darkness storm. I teleport away and quaff a !oHealing, and then disaster struck. My insanity mutation kicked in, and I got hallucinated (since I had Thranduil on for ESP at the time). Not knowing which things were dangerous and which were not, I kept Berserking for the heal effect until a monster approached, at which point I'd whack it a few times and if it didn't die, I'd teleport. Several times, I got taken into into the red, and had to quaff a !oHealing. When the hallucination finally cleared, I was a 2 !oHealing left (having spent 3 during the Hallucination), and out of Staff of Speed charges.

Checking my play log shows that I killed Ghatanothoa, Zoth-Ommog, and Hoarmorauth of Dir while hallucinating O_o.

I decide to take on Santa Claus with my remaining resources, and was pleased to find the Hell Collar and Yoichi from the remains. Max DEX!

Hm, I'm getting kind of stuck now. Had a near death experience with a Great Wyrm of Balance. My major problem right now is that I can cover all my resistances... but never at the same time. It's either RDark and RNether or RConf. RSound and RBlind or RChaos.

Liberal swapping allowed me to kill the Spider God and Narse, but I'm feeling a bit out of my depth.

Hm... my !oHealing stock is also getting awfully small..

Ah, Tiamat, have I told you recently that I love you? With your wonderful Ring of Speed (+11) drop and your nice Cloak that you borrowed from Jack of Shadows, you are by far the girl for me. I'm sorry I messed around a bit with Fiona and Locke and Hypnos, I was young and naive to expect that they would provide nearly as well as you.

Love letters aside, the Cloak of Jack doesn't actually help much other than AC at this point, since there are no good alternative headgear to Thranduil.

In retrospect, setting the automizer to destroy all weapon and armor may have been a bad move... a Small shield of Preservation or Elvenkind might actually come in quite handy right now >_< Poor pseudoID sucks though.

You're doing really good. Maybe Crimson for Nether will complete you? Monks always have to play with some resistance holes, but they dish it out, so usually, it does not matter. Darkness is annoying, but its better than lacking sound resistance ;)

Wow, you called it, Crimson showed up on the floor of 76, where I was to face off against the Tarrasque. Even with +33 speed, my first encounter with him had him double-move me with Breath Cold and Breath Disenchant... taking me from 888 HP down to 180 HP. If it had been double Breath Disenchant, then it would have been tombstone for me!

The next time was better though, with my attacks stunning him until he had only about 1/2 HP left. He kindly dropped Thorin as well as a Ring of Speed (+8).

And I still don't have a good source of RConf. And a more or less empty head slot.

I'm being a bit more careful than I usually play, despite the fact that none of the uniques I've encountered have proved too tough so far (Godzilla, Hela, Wahha-Man, Draguluin).

Unfortunately, Dworkin was not carrying the Jewel this time around--that would really have solved my RConf problem.

Post-Babble Victory Dump!
For reference, I had 49% fail on Wall of Stone (42 SP cost with Incanus), +31 speed, 933 hitpoints, 235 SP, Reflection, and RChaos. Equipment were: Mirror (for WIS and reflection), Crimson (for speed), RoSpeed(+11), RoSpeed(+8), Pendant of Gogo (for WIS), Incanus (for WIS and Economize Mana), Crown of Might (+3) (for CON), and Dragon Boots (for RConf).

I used Twilight as a swap for whenever I had to step out into LoS of the Babble, for the ImmFire and extra +10 speed. It was a matter of divide-and-conquer to fill up the arena with stone... I'd bisect the arena with stone, figure out which side he's on, and then fill up the other side. Rinse and repeat.

Easy victory.

Wow, I really couldn't have timed the Babble fight any better than I did. The very next trip down, I get Moronified. Having Living Supercomputer mutation previously, that's a total of -8 to INT and WIS for me.

Congratulations. I had an Ent Nature Monk starve to death in the arena trying to cast wall of stone, which was frustrating (Ents need to quaff, which is disallowed. You can't throw your potions of water to shatter them either! Later, I realized a frost bolt would shatter one on the ground, perhaps providing nourishment?).

For a cheaper but less guaranteed strategy, try casting forest creation on your first move. Then stand still and wait for the babble to come to you. When it does, poke it! Never move, just heal and rebuild your forest as needed. I've used that approach before for characters with high fail rates on the wall of stone, and it worked well.

Swimsuit?

The babble will only do Logrus if it sees you. Disintegration from a GWoP, say, is different. Also, I think moving thru the forest costs extra energy. But I've only tried this approach twice, so I could be wrong ...

Nice cloak indeed! But, I have to ask. Can you even cast spells? ;)

Obligatory clvl 50 post. I've started to clear some of the higher uniques, including recently the Destroyer. An equipment shuffle puts me back to Thranduil and =oRDisenchant and Mirror (vs. Thorin + Dragon Helm + =oRConf) to clear a few pounds of armor, so that I can actually put on Fingolfin.

Hah! Just barely, Chris. Before I did my equipment swap to put on the Mirror, I could only cast spells up to Resistance True. Call Sunlight and Wall of Stone were "forgotten" due to my puny WIS. Now, my Wall of Stone fail rate is.. 67%. Which isn't completely useless, but it's pretty close.

Monk stunning is a lot stronger than I realized ^^

Hm, I just realized that if I did a few more equipment shuffles (i.e. Thorin + Crown of Might +3) to get my STR up to 18/220, then that would be another 7 points of damage per blow, boosting me up to 1395 damage. Ah well.
