So far so good. I've been a bit lucky at low levels. I killed Mim and got the equiped defender and longbow. He also carried with him the broadaxe in my inventory and the battleaxe in my house.

Update. I've finally made it down to 1150 ft and am beginning my decent to stat gain.

i have hung out at this level for about 10 trips to town and have YET to find any gain stat pots. Any clues ?

At "only" 1800', you need to be killing monsters whose native depth is 1200'+. That means stone trolls are ok, but you have to reach 2150' to make forest trolls worthwhile. If you drop to 2700', then even snagas are good enough, assuming you manage to stay alive to harvest them.

Look at the monster recall to see which monsters are deep enough, and how many items they drop.

Your current rings are not doing you much good. Buy con or int rings if they show up at the market. I'd wield Balli for rBlind and elvenkind armor, though maybe Hithlomir for rDark is enough with Eriril for extra mana.

I finally found my first haste item, albeit not very speedy, it's one none-the-less.

How much more stat gain is necessary before i dive for goodies??

You are plenty ready to dive now. CON doesn't get any better than 18/200, and you cannot get more than 5 attacks except for +att weapons.

So, should my focus be on locating speed items or do i have more work at stat gain levels? Also, am I making the best use of my equipment including the ones in my house?

Thanks,

Sorry, i thought i posted this a couple of days ago. Anyway, how deep should i go and what should i be specifically looking for and avoiding? I've heard alot about the dreadful gravity hounds on the forums and i've seen a lot of them lately and have just been running away.

Ran from a unique 'd', i didn't like the look about him. Also ran from a Lord V and had to yet again run when a Q summoned hell on me. I am doing a lot of running now and not much fighting. My trips back to town are becomming much more frequent. Especially if i recall into an area with no stairs nearby and lots of baddies. I took on an a green D, my first and killed him without breathing on me. Fortunately, i just found a ring of resist poison, so that was handy. Found it in the room before the Dragon. I took it as a sign to fight him. In Moria, i used to run from green Ds.

You should be wearing hithlomir-it gives better stealth and you already have rligjt as a HE.

And you can go a lot deeper. Save branded ammo for really valuable targets. For a few more levels focus on killing big fire and frost breathers like smaug and ice wyrms. Go deep and kill monsters with good drops!

I dropped down to 3000' and nearly died to a time hound. He did a number on me. How deep should i go before I hold up. I'm a bit nervous at 3000'. I suppose I should just keep going down. I still have yet to find any more hasty items at this time. As this is my first time this deep, i feel quite uneasy.

Brian

On 27.9.2008 18:33 Pete Mack wrote:
I would definitely wear hithlomir for stealth or rohirim for rsound. I'd you're diving fast, go with stealth since you are unlikely to end up in a room full of plasma hounds. If you are diving slow, use rsound. Change to rohirim for sure when you get speed.

Now i need to figure out which items to sell because i'm starting to find good stuff. Hanging around at this depth is making me nervous.

The amulet of sustenance is a very strange choice. I would be squelching those. You need trickery so you can replace the poison ring. For now, use weaponmastery. Toss the dragonscale armors. If Rohirrim has more resistances, you don't want them.
