Trying a human priest. So far so good. Haven't found anything interesting except for a blessed lance, which is too heavy for me.

Progressing well. Wormtongue dropped Thorongil which means I can free up an amulet and a ring slot when I find better things.

Paurnimmen provides a nice intermittent ranged attack. Using it very frequently.

Weapons a bit weak. With more strength I would use the lance instead.

Bretlocus is reasonably dangerous, especially when using Orb of Draining. Going to proceed down and look for stat potions soon.

The basic resists (fire, cold, lightning, acid) are pretty low priority until you get down into stat gain. It's not bad to have them, of course, if nothing else is available - just that nothing (outside of wormtongue and his cursed frost bolts!) does significant elemental damage relative to their level until you start running into mature dragons.

I agree, but the equipment I picked up on the way happened to cover the basic resists, it just happened that way.

Found a Broad Sword of *Slay Evil* at the BM. Had to sell some of the equipment in my home, including the blessed lance, to be able to afford it, but its proving to be a useful weapon.

I hope you tested the lance for SI and FA. The random power and wis bonus is much more important to a priest than the melee. Why aren't you carrying 99 arrows? If weight matters, leave your melee weapon at home to carry more arrows, unless it has a useful power or wis bonus noticeably affecting spell failure rate. Wielding Thorongil, the only useful power would be regen. Portal mimics ?teleport, so you might be better off using that slot for ?phase which is useful in winning a tough battle. Better yet, carry both if it is feasible.

I don't normally make a habit of carrying 99 arrows, athough if I find some more arrows I might identify them to increase what I'm carrying. I tend to be quite bow-happy, hitting the macros, so arrows don't last long for me.

I never thought of *ID*ing the lance, perhaps I should have, but I didn't anticipate the lance being useful for some time due to its weight. The *Slay Evil* weapon is immediately useful, provides a wisdom bonus, is blessed, and it might have hidden powers...

Portal mimics? I haven't found any of those yet, but when I do THEY CAN FEAR THE WRATH OF ROB!
