Also my first character to make it past 2000'. I'm still at the playstyle of townscumming for arrows or restore potions (and spend the time enchanting equipment while doing so), although I do not savescum or stairscum (autoscum is on).

This dump is right after my first 2900' special, which included a RoS +7, the Glaive of Pain, and Mordenkainen's Escapes. 2600' was also really spiffy to me, including Barahir, Evenstar, and Isildur.

Currently diving to 3250 to fight wyrms. I'd really like to find something better than Wormtongue to wear, but the speed+3 makes up for the -8 damage (and doesn't apply to bow damage, which is my main output anyway).

Current equipment choices are Isildur and Thranduil over Thalkettoth and Holhenneth- I get rSound, rNexus, and telepathy as opposed to rShards and speed+3.

I had been using Haradekket as my main weapon for a long time, but Angrist was better for the speed for a brief period, and I just found the Glaive so am trying it out.

Also killed Fundin Bluecloak. Now at 67/69 uniques and 34 artifacts.

I also wouldn't mind getting both rconfu and rblind elsewhere so I can wear Dor-Lomin which would let me wear another ring since I wouldn't need Con... so many choices. My speed's doing vaguely decently at this point, though, so I'm mostly fishing to get the resists covered easier while I get to level 50.

Also killed Azriel. 73/73 uniques dead. 46 artifacts found. I lost some of the rods of teleport other through various lightning attacks, and my teleport scrolls have been taking some beatings from fire. Can't wait to find some of the unique rings.

I think I'm going to scum 3250' until I hit level 50 and then dive. I've got all the resists covered and I've killed one of every non-unique monster except some of the rarer Wyrms, I think I should be okay.

Honestly, you don't need most of the resists to win the game. Nexus is mostly pointless, nether isn't that good, chaos is pretty useful (but you'll want thorin, anyway, I expect). but disen isn't that important. You're plenty strong for the end-game, with good potions and scrolls. Could use more slay evil (for Morgy) and acid brand (for Sauron), but supplies should be sufficient.


I'd swap in Ellesar, RoS+7 (for barahir), Rohirrim, and Thorin. That'll make your con and str worth mentioning, and speed you up a bit. Plan on shooting the quest uniques to death.

You can also switch cambeleg and fingolfin if you need to.

Just make sure you've killed the Tarrasque and Ancalagon and Gothmog and the later undead so they (and their escorts) don't get summoned.

I can get disenchant with Calris, though. I completely forgot how pansy rnether was in resistance- I kept getting hit by nether bolts so kept having it in my mind that it was necessary. Thanks for the advice, both of you.

I'm planning on killing the uniques for a while before the quest uniques, anyway, since I've never seen them before. :-)

So I try this.

First little while, everything goes okay. I get him down to 6 *s, he summons a horde of Vrocks, I laugh at them, and keep going.

And then I run out of seeker arrows. Hmm, says I. Awkward.

And then he starts mana storming, which eats up my *healing* like mad, and my runes keep popping which take the restore mana and a turn... then he earthquakes and summons greater undead several times, forcing me to banish Ws a few times.

Then I take a moment to look at what's going around. I had 6 *healing* and 1 banishment left (15 restore mana), and Morgoth was down to 4 *s. Concern was rising.

I teleport other Huan away and get a few Greater Balrogs as well.

I keep the runes up more often than before.

I run out of mithril arrows. Uh-oh.

Hey, wait, Calris slays evil. Why haven't I been using it the whole time? I'm an idiot.

I start whacking on Morgoth, get him down to 2*s... and one of the demons teleport me to him. I quickly pop a rune of protection (and another restore mana), and cast several teleport others to clear a path for morgoth to get to me (since my rods were recharging).

Finally, down to 2 *healing*, I get the message...
You have hit Morgoth, Lord of Darkness. You have slain Morgoth, Lord of Darkness. A magical staircase appears... *** CONGRATULATIONS *** You have won the game! You may retire (commit suicide) when you are ready.

So of course I take a chardump. Go me, first time winning.
