Well, now I've got one off the ground. MaxDepth is not quite accurate, that's just my current recall depth. I've been as deep as 1000', but not since clvl 19 or so. I really need resist confusion and poison.

Not sure why you think you're in need of poison or confusion. You might be in need of getting holy chant/heroism into your kit. Oh and a way to escape, the ranger has way to high fail rates on spells. Get a staff of Teleport, 10 scrolls of phase door, and if available, scolls of tele level for immediate escapes.
Do you know that the ring does not add to your missile damage? Guess you wear it for melee right?

As for phase and tele, my fail rates are down to 5%... too low? I guess if that basically equates to 5% chance of death on the next turn, then that's a definite yes. I was wearing the ring for melee, but I haven't found myself using melee at all, and the poison resist is more valuable to me.
