Unfortunately, Hagen disenchanted the Dagger by +1, and I quickly abandoned the quest after that. Ditto with his dad, who also disenchants. Their various drops probably aren't going to be as valuable to me as my Dagger!

I'm all the way in the positives in AC now! 18, thanks to the Elven Cloak of Protection, courtesy of the Orc Camp, and the =oProtection. Of couse, that's still pretty terrible for when there are packs of Nibelung. Damn guys musta stolen 30k off me already ;-)

So, Dex is supposed to be the guiding stat for saves ... I'll make that change for 0.0.16. I was using Int. Do you still want spell failures? Key stats now are:
Str: Damage (which is effectively doubled) and encumbrance.
Int: AC boost.
Dex: Abilities work better (vs. monster saves)
Con: Obvious

If we do failures, guiding by Dex like the ninja seems to make sense. Dex is also more important for AC these days as well.

Keying off DEX for special attack abilities sounds good (that's the assumption I was going off, so that's why I was boosting DEX!) The DEX effects on AC don't really kick in until you're at about 18/150 or so, so I was also thinking making the bonus damage be (DEX + clvl/2 - 10). So each point of DEX is worth 1 +todam (2 with Careful Aim). That way, DEX is the monster important stat for the Duelist.

I know I keep waffling, but now I'm feeling that 0% Fails is fine. The Duelist has enough trouble in the mid 20's and 30's already with their low HP and low damage outputs.

Ps. Runeknight abilites seem quite cherrypicked but that depends how hard SP management is and Daves 80d30 damage/teleport to mobs are the worst idea you guys have come up with yet.

Er. If by "mobs" you mean the single Unique native to 4950' that moves erratically, then yes.

80d30 is 1600 damage, but that gets reduced by 60% from armor, so it's actually 640 damage. It's not that much worse than a Mana Storm, and the Master Tonberry has to melee you to do it. He can teleport-to, but you can blink. It's not meant to be easy for Warriors, but should be OK for mage-types. If 80d30 is really too much, 70d30 should be fine (560 damage on average with high AC).

Compare with the Metal Babble, which is absolutely impossible for mage-types. Or compare with the One Ring, whose mana storms do 545 damage at a distance, and does not waste turns moving erratically (or moving at all).
