After my last warrior picked up 3 -Rockets and 2 -Dragon Frost by day 270, I figured it was time to try my luck with a Magic Eater. But my luck was not so good ... at least as far as magic items goes. It took until day 518 to get my first good magic item (Dragon's Breath). I did however, pick up Telepathy almost immediately.

So, after some careful dragon extermination, I now face the Cloning Pits. With my horrible stealth, everything is awake.

I sold out for DQII ... really, it wasn't too bad. The Iron Liches were formidable, but I went in heavy with loads of healing and resistance.

So, I get a _Healing for the reward. How high should I try to charge it? On the one hand, I'm greedy and want as many charges as possible. On the other hand, I am unlikely to find another _Healing until DL80 or so, and it will be really hard to play a magic eater without it. So, after 3 ?Recharging I was up to 8 charges. I risked a fourth, and sighed with relief. Except the staff remained on 8 charges (I hate when that happens). So, I absorbed it ... Better 8 charges now then 0 for the foreseeable future! Dave, you are the Magic Eater champion. How high do you charge -Rockets, -Disintegrate and _Healing?

Occasionally, your device will be drained of all charges or will not increase in charge, but I'd say it's at least 70% that you'll make to 10 without it blowing up? Also, I think Staff is easier to get to high charges than wands, but that may just be my luck. You could also save up a bunch and get them to 5 charges (staff) and 4 charges (wand) at Zul before supercharging, if you want to be really safe.

Rockets are actually DL75 items, not DL80 items, so I really messed up my calcs

Healing is a DL70 item and the odds work out to be the same. So 5/8 chance (assuming 4->6->8->10 on 3 ?Recharge) without a hitch. 1/8 chance you fail and get to start again, but I'm do dumb to work out the odds :P But 75% chance of success now seems likely.
