Dunno if this is working as intended - loaded the 1.4.2 (once 1.4.1) savegame and prf file and got the following C report ... Cammithrim still shows up, but all kills are gone?!

This time, it was a fairly boring failure of the quickstart option - not nearly as much fun as using teleport level from the bottom of a dungeon, or going upstairs from a patch of grass...

    FAangband 1.4.3

Version 1.4.3 is now available at the downloads page, the variants tab and in all good bookstores.

    Just bugfixes this time:
    • Fix some more mode menu issues
    • Fix explosion visual radius
    • Disable text screen dumps
    • Stop artifact ID leaking in 'C' screen
    • Fix some text encoding
    • Make autoinscriptions apply on item ID
    • Shut the (a?) gate to Nowhere Town

There will likely not be any new releases for some time; in particular, FA will be caught up in the Vanilla restructure. Do make bug reports, though, as I will continue with fixes and do another release if there are any showstoppers.

    Thanks for playing, everyone

Also except for the Nowhere Town bug I just found

Rumour has it that there may be an FA competition soon, and I would like to have a version out with the artifact ID leakage fixed. So my plan is to release 1.4.3 some time in the next few days - please keep the bug reports coming so I can try and get fixes into it.

OK - I have fixed some issues with autoinscription, apparently not that one.

Again, some instances of this fixed - will follow up. When this appears in dumps, btw, it can be because of how your browser is treating the page.

    Thanks for the reports.

Ah, I've seen that in the dumps, I thought it was a problem with a font or such. Apparently, characters with an accent are not displayed correctly, at least in the dump.

Now the complaining starts again :

I found an unidentified scroll and picked it up. Read it and it turned out to be WoR. I have outoinscribed WoR with !*. But the game wouldn't apply it to the scroll. Finally, when I dropped it and picked it up again, it was inscribed correctly.

All right, I have now excised text screen dumps completely from the development version - I think it's now safe to assume that players have access to software that displays html files.

The artifact info leakage I will have to track down. Also thanks LT for that info - I have implemented a fix, but it sounds like yours is better.

I also had scrashes because of text dumps, right after dying.

    Now things are getting ugly:

I found that the game showed 2-sqaures radius for r.o.l. when and only when I used it this situation:

    Code:
      # #
      #*#
      #*####
      #@**
    ###/####
      **#
    #####
So I tried to do a screenshot .. and looked for the dump option. Confusing variants, I thought I might have seen it on the "C"haracter screen ... only to find out that the "good" leather gloves I just picked up from the floor (Dlvl23) where in fact ... Cammithrim!

They showed up as found in the log without being properly identified!

Even worse, I remembered the cmdlist.txt and found ")" for doing a dump. Chose "t"ext dump and had a nice crash on -more- prompt ... and an empty dump file, and no more Cammithrim ...

Nicely observed. It turns out the animation effect in FA always covers one less than the actual ball radius
I fixed this in my version, just add one more delay to project function between end of drawing and start of erasing. It actually covers all area, but it starts erasing immediately after it finishes drawing.

    2) ID'ed a dubious ring, which got squelched - yet no quality or ego squelch showed up in the settings. After toggling them back and forth I was able to pick it up from the floor again.
Yeah, I'm not sure how well squelch settings translate - I think the standard thing is not to save them in a pref file, because typically you don't want the same ones at the beginning of your new game as the end of your old one."

And not just the Beornings - all Huntsladies look like that, and it looks so bad in the Shockbolt tiles because wherever there sin't an obvious tile I have just used the Gervais one, which typically doesn't match all that well.

Note that all the "player race" monsters have the same tile, because their existence is a bit hacky and I have never worked out a good way to get them individual tiles, let alone actually having that sort of range of tiles or putting in the effort to allocate them all across the 14 player races and five different tilesets.

Long story short - you're going to have to live with it

Nicely observed. It turns out the animation effect in FA always covers one less than the actual ball radius, unlike in Vanilla where it does the whole radius. I don't know if this was originally a deliberate optimisation, but I would certainly now call it a bug. Now fixed in development.

    OK, now it does.

Keep complaining and there will have to be another release...
