When you would otherwise die. It's an excellent guaranteed escape. Eventually you will want to stash some of them (and the two banishment scrolls and possibly Rune) for the final fight.

Just killed Medusa and Scatha the Worm, I've got an artefact bonanza on my hands. Dunno what to wear! Any suggestions?

Rob--it's easier to read the character dump if you post it to the ladder.

Drop Holhenneth. Gondor is strictly better. Drop the *thancs and Maedros. They are for early characters only. Barrukheled is your best weapon, for sure. Drop the MoD. Gloves of Slaying are junk.
Ring of Dex is worthless. You can only ever really need 18/150.
I'd say use helm of ESP. That's something you don't want to do without. That and Barrukheled.

Ok, will do. I just killed Smaug! He was surprisingly easy, I've got speed +16 now so he never even got close enough to touch me. He breathed a couple of times but with the resist spell (INT is up to 15 now) it didn't do too much.

I've picked up some new stuff now, gonna post on the ladder.

So should I wear the crown of Gondor but carry the ESP helm, or swap them out for battle?

Shield of Thorin or shield of Celegorm?

If I've got Thorin I ink it in to reduce variables in the equipment equation.
(Not that there's anything wrong with Celegorm, mind.)

                    What does "ink it in"mean?

Just that I'll take off every piece of equipment that I'm not completely sold on, leaving those that I've 'inked in' left equipped. Then I'll list which resistances, stat points etc. I'm missing and make my equipment choices for the empty slots based on that.

I'm close to that with Thorin, but with two caveats. Sometimes I will go with Elros and sometimes with an excellent Shield of Preservation if it has Nether resistance in addition to hold life. It depends on what other gear @ has accumulated.

Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”

But yeah, Thorin is super good. Big CON and STR bonuses, sound and chaos resists are frequently handy, and acid immunity is always nice, if perpetually overvalued on these forums.

Amulet of trickery (+3 speed, nexus + gas) or Evenstar (life force sustain + nether + dark + regen)?
