Very minor issue with light sources - the light radius is not shown in the inventory until you've wielded it (i.e. you just see "A wooden torch (5000 turns)" instead of "A wooden torch (5000 turns) <+1>") despite the fact it's already known if you use the Inspect command instead.
- unidentified torch shouldn't tell about radius because it could be a torch of brightness (radius 2)
- the LIGHT modifier is treated differently in the description and the info panel: worn item shows the <+1>, but description only shows radius for fully IDed item; clearly this should be unified (show + and radius if modifier is known)PWMAngband variant maintainer - check https://github.com/draconisPW/PWMAngband (or http://www.mangband.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=9) to learn more about this new variant!Comment

ETA:
"Surrender" is good wording, I think. Maybe something like: "Surrender to Morgoth and quit the game? (All your progress will be lost!) [y/n]" That fits within 80 characters. Or even just "Give up and quit the game?"Last edited by Nomad; April 17, 2015, 14:21.Comment

Also, this is neither a bug nor unique to 4.0, but I'm reminded of it every time I accidentally hit Q instead of q, so: could we maybe change the message you get on hitting Q to "Do you really want to suicide your character?" or something like that? Because the current "Do you really want to commit suicide?" message always strikes me as a bit disconcerting to have pop out at you unexpectedly after an accidental keypress, and probably in slightly poor taste. One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

I know they are nominally 'off' but still. I believe:
Nethack already has this.
(Actually, I just think it make the dungeon more...interesting. You could drop them on the ground for strategic effect.)Comment

(FWIW, "Surrender" or "Give up" are pretty good substitutes for at a rather unfortunate message. I'll throw in "Abandon the quest" as another suggestion.)Comment

Yeah - I'm a "Keep going no matter what" type myself, but I'd have thought the sort of situations where people are most likely to want to abandon a game are where they're stuck in the depths of the dungeon, horribly stat-drained or nexus-swapped with all their spellbooks burned and no way of getting back to town.Comment

EDIT: (*) Actually, slight, lie. If I get badly Nexus-swapped at the start I will suicide a character almost immediately.Last edited by AnonymousHero; April 17, 2015, 21:56.Comment
