    Oh yeah, my friends have been sick of hearing about it. Aside from 1 of my friends who got me into the game, but hasn't played in a while, none of my other friends have any clue about the game. That hasn't stopped me from spamming them with updates on my characters. They love it, they just don't realize it yet.

        Revitalizing this thread for some input on what gear I should wear moving forward. I picked up a bunch of new items last night, and I'm trying to figure out the most optimal suit to wear.

        Up until I picked up some stuff and starting switching things around, i had been sitting at 18/210 con. I was wearing Dor-Lomin as my only source of ESP. I picked up Narya last night, so I wanted to switch in Holhenneth since running around without pconf is just annoying since i'm doing a fair amount of melee atm. I could wear Rohirrim to cover that, but my Thunderfist had gotten disenchanted a few times which is obnoxious, so I'd like to continue wearing Celeborn.

        With what I'm wearing currently I have the majority of the important stuff covered, but could have a few more HPs for my level. So basically, is losing a few points of HP a fair trade for keeping the other stuff I have?

          Ugh, too complicated for me. I need spreadsheets for that sort of stuff.

          I wouldn't want to be that deep with resistance to nether, though.

          As an aside (sorry, Raajaton) *my* High Elf Ranger is CL45, has CON 18/190, and has 825 HP. You're three CLs behind me, have /10 less CON, but have higher HP. Is there that much variation between characters, or have the numbers been rejigged between 3.3.2 and 3.5?

          EDIT: Now CL46, with 839 HP.

            Yeah lack of nether resist is somewhat unfortunate, but I seem to be getting by ok. I mostly just avoid heavy nether breathing creatures. I've been able to take out a few uniques that dealt nether damage simply through a halfway decent damage output and hp pool. I still have Hithlomir which provides 3 stealth, rbase, dark and nether resist - it's sitting on the ground in town right now while I was shuffling my gear. I personally don't think it's worth wearing just for the nether resist though. I'd much rather have the disenchant resist and have that Celeborn activate. I suppose I could carry it around with me as a swap if I need it though.

            As far as the HP pool goes, I'll leave it to an expert to explain that. I suppose I could have either gotten very lucky with my rolls with each level, or perhaps you had gotten extremely unlucky with your rolls. Someone more savvy than I may know if there was some sort of change within the last few versions that I'm not aware of.

              Agreed. As you say, you've got the speed to avoid netherers, plus the basic HP and regen to out-last them. Nether is also a patchy resist, in that up to 6/7ths of damage can on occasion get through (I think?!).

                I'm also running netherless, so based on my earlier good advices I shall no doubt very soon be dead.

                  It's been somewhat of a non-issue for me. I'm currently lvl 47, sitting at 985 hp (still not sure how i got so much more than you) and took out Sauron and a host of other uniques last night. I put in a brief attempt at Morgoth, but quickly realized that with my current damage output I didn't have enough consumables so I bailed with a teleport level.

                  The nether attacks do more damage, but it seems that with enough consumable preparation it's not really that big of a deal. Especially for Morgoth, I think his nether attacks are his lowest damaging attacks, so if he uses them it's sort of a win.

                  I'm probably going to hover around lvl 98/99 for a while and try to take out some more uniques before attempting Morgy again. Perhaps get a better weapon with a brand/slay that would actually affect Morgoth.

                    I play very differently: I'm *always* CL50 by DL80-85, and I've *always* cleared out every other unique by the time I reach Morgy. Additionally I've got into the habit of spending a lot of time on DL99/100 between killing Sauron and the Big Purple P, looking for upgrades and consumables. To be honest I overdo it: I'll be there with 30/40 *heals* and 12+ Lifes, but will use just a fraction of them.

                    DL100 can be a lot of fun. Morgy's an incredibly literal chaser and won't take two steps either side to use a doorway, so if you can find a vault on DL100 – don't know the generation chances but they're relatively high – you can clean it out without being molested.

                      There's nothing wrong with being prepared

                      That's more or less what I did with my last rogue, but I was going for a bit of a quicker approach this time. Partially because I streamed most of my play sessions on twitch since one of my buddies wanted to see what the bottom section of the dungeon is like. He used to play, but never got much below dlvl 25-30 or so. I guess I wanted to make things a bit more exciting to watch.

                        The only thing he's susceptible to is 'evil'. I'm not an expert of standard artefact weaponry, but Aiglos (assuming you still have it!) is pretty tasty. You could wait for a Mace of Disruption of *slay evil* but you could be waiting a looong time

                        I can't get my head around the idea of Angband as a spectator sport!

                          I know, it's pretty shocking to me too, however he seems to enjoy it. He is living out his dreams of beating angband vicariously through me it would seem lol.

                          Sadly I think I tossed Aiglos at some point because I needed room and didn't expect to use it again. It was probably a foolish move.

                              You're a high-level ranger, with Bard. Why not use archery?

                                I think +shooting speed makes Amras better than pretty much any other artifact bow, doesn't it? Or is that math different for rangers somehow?

                                I remember being frustrated at how awesome that +1 shooting speed was relative to any other bonus I could get on a bow, but I'm still pretty green at V so I dunno
