Carcharoth, the Jaws of Thirst is evil - but he's a C - a Canine, not a hound.

Going on your definition, I'd throw Aether hounds in there too...

        Okay, more questions:

How much damage does Dispel Evil/_Holy/_Power do?

How does "damage reduction" work? I just found some armor with this ability but I've never seen it before.

Dispel Evil the prayer does a random amount of damage between 1 and clevel * 5. The staffs are more predictable - Dispel Evil does a flat 60 damage, Holiness a flat 120, and Power also 120, but to everything rather than just evil.

You can check this stuff by looking at class.txt and object.txt.

It's a flat reduction of any damage the player takes. So it's not great against big breaths or spells, but excellent against things involving many small attacks (crowds of breeders, poisoning, banishment, etc).

How do you mean banishment? How does armour reduction help in this sense?

Banishment does 1d4 damage per monster, so damage reduction 4 means no damage at all. Same for mobs of insects. But 400 fire damage is only reduced to 396.

So we're not talking about scrolls of banishment or the mage banishment spell?

All forms of banishment--scroll, staff, or spell, mass banishment included. "Killed by the strain of baniahment" is a classic YASD. (Yet another stupid death.)

Now I understand. It protects you when you cast the spell, not that mobs are casting it at you.

Also, I've died fighting Morgoth reading mass banishment. I felt so stupid. I had about 15 *healing potions* but thought I'd just clear the area a bit first. I remember being shocked at my own stupidity.

Who knows what the difference between the orange * and the yellow * treasure patches are?

This only applies when you scan, with magic mapping or treasure detection, not when you can actually see the treasure

Is there a specific command to return to normal form as a druid or do I have to try to do something I'm not able to in shifted form?
