What was the item on your early x-9 level ?

I started a high-elf rogue with iron man settings and upon leaving the town DL1 turned out to be 1-9. Sweet!

Rod of speed.

Multi-Hued Dragon Scale Mail (-2) [45, +10]
Found lying on the floor at 1500 feet (level 30)

It was just lying there, first thing I found when I left the stairs from DL29. Usually the first resist poison item I find is a ring, but I guess this will do…

Dlvl 27, 5-9: Wrath of the valar. And I am a priest! But most unusual: I only saw it after searching the level and unsquelching everything temporarily. Because I had it squelched, due to:

a Holy Book of Prayers [Wrath of the Valar]

found lying on the floor at 1200 feet (level 24)

That one was found before level feeling got disclosed. I guess that makes up for about 2 years of finding wrong books.

And now on DL 24 I find Boots of Speed +4. Somebody west beyond the sea has their eye on me, it seems...

My current HE mage found a RoS + 5 on DL 6! Probably one of the best things to find early, given how long it will remain useful; it will be a boon probably until I find a better RoS or an elven ring

Yes, because the biggest term in the calculation is based on squaring the bonus - so double the bonus, quadruple the value.

If I'm doing my maths correctly, RoS+10 value is 3904, RoS+20 value is 15004.

you mentioned price, but those are not store price values. Do stores use a multiplier of a hidden value?

I wouldnt jump to conclusions; better ask code savvy people if that is true ? I kind of doubt it.

It is true - contribution to level feeling is based essentially on price.

i was severely disappointed when i spent tons of consumables on a fairly early level and found a adamantine plate +0 which:
1. is too heavy to wear (both Spd and SP)
2. doesnt even sell for much


Once i found a deep LF -9 and i !Enlight it, i can see nothing, just a ring of speed .. well, it was +20: http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=24031

So not only the type of item matters, but the quality of the item itself.
