Quickstart on the magic eater. Robin Hood, a tough draw for the DL6 quest, dropped a nice 5d6 long sword. Unfortunately, it is neither vorpal nor poison branded (and how the heck did I manage to kill him with magic missles??) On the same level was a copy of Demonthoughts, which I sold for 17k. Townscummed for a wand of striking. Very nice, but 69% fail :(
So Shagrat died to a couple strikes, despite the fail rate, and obliged with armour of resistance. Found a Chaos Channels, sold my loot for 40k gold, and scummed again. This time I got gauntlets of slaying, FA and SInv, a wand of cold balls and .... drum roll .... a staff of speed!!! Wahooo!

I've been belching up some rockets of late! I really did quite a bit of town scumming early on, and netted, among other things, a wand of rockets! I took the big risk, and read not one, but two scrolls of recharging. Net gain: 9 charges!
So I did the Cloning Pits at CL31, levelling up to CL32 in the process. Only scary moment was early on vs. the Father Dagons, where I needed two !oHealing to stay alive. Gachapins obliged with Gandalf's staff and Thorin's shield. At CL32, the staff took me from 35% fail on the rockets to 20%. But lacking any telepathy, or any detect monsters other than my 2 absorbed rods of detection, and my plentiful detect evil, I was a bit worried about the Dragon's Lair. Sure, I had more than enough firepower, but I was bound to be squished, especially with only 370hp! Well, maybe not. I've been working the top of the Lair from CL32 to CL39, and am beginning to get comfortable. More hp, and some ESP evil are helping things along. And the rockets are down to 17% fail.

I've attached a screenshot of my arsenal at the moment. Rockets run supreme, followed by Striking and then Dragon's Breath/Fire. And 0% healing and destruction aren't bad.
