I actually wasn't even going for speed that much, it just worked out that way, because my character was naturally "very fast" (+20 to speed I believe), and a good amount of my equipment gave speed as a side effect to what I was wearing it for. I was also running, because I had just fought Morgoth, and at that point, stealth wasn't a concern.
