This character was intended to be a "demonologist's demonologist". In other words, his only weapons would be demonblades, his only shields demonshields, and his only headgear demonhorns. And with a couple of exceptions he managed to hold to that (he temporarily swapped in Glamdring to fight Uvatha - artifact demonblades don't exactly grow on trees , and he wore Thengel while doing the Sandworm Lair, for the luck bonus; you can't summon demons in the Lair anyway). This "demon-equipment only" policy did, however, cause some serious headaches resistance-wise until the mid-game; refusing to wear Hammerhand, Svartalf was still wearing a Ring of Cold Resistance until level 32, when he got that very nice randart cloak from Eol (perhaps Eol was feeling a bit generous to a fellow Dark-Elf). It was really only when he completed the Gothmog set part of the way through Mordor that things settled down, and even then there was the luck penalty to consider.

I think Yavanna-worship is a bit of an acquired taste; she's useless early on, and really only becomes helpful at higher levels, where things like Healing become really, really useful (Demonologists can't even start out as Yavanna worshippers, so I had to make a trip to Lothlorien early in the game). Given that I only hit positive piety at Level 37, it was downright heartbreaking to run into a huge piety draining trap in Erebor (to get piety back to sea-level, I was forced to spend ages in the Paths of the Dead, where to make things worse, I accidentally bumped into one of the Nazgul. Arrgh.)

Congradulations!

I'm still a bit resentful at ToME that WaterBite and Demonblade don't stack.

Actually, when Gothmog set is complete, the demonblade pval becomes 7 and it GIVES you 7 to luck, speed etc.

I know it gives the speed boost (along with various nice stat boosts), but there still seems to be a luck penalty involved. Quaffing Potions of Self Knowledge revealed that the character, while wearing the entire Gothmog set, was "extremely unlucky", though with the help of Fingolfin and that artifact bolt, I was eventually able to get it down to just "very unlucky". It certainly took far longer than normal to find Elessar, the Arkenstone, etc.
