I use it/them because I like to be able to cast all the spells, not just fireflash and mana thrust.

But if you just want to blow stuff up, I agree--sorcery is not the most efficient way to go.

But I wouldn't say sorcery is a matter of convenience, exactly. It is that too, but it's more about flexibility. With sorcery I have more magic options. I regularly use at least 1 spell from every tome with my sorcs.

Anyway, good to know about the modifiers. Never tried that route before.
