Let's try this again. I made it to the Dragon's Lair at around the 40 minute mark and quickly picked up some seriously good loot. This time, I brought a wand of disarming :)

But now it is time for the Barrow Downs, which usually takes 20 to 30 minutes, so this is a serious slowdown. But, I think it is worth it. Most of the time is wasted identifying hordes of useless junk that one would have to identify anyway, so the time is not totally wasted.

I did the quest much faster this time, using Psychic Drain to recover sp rather than Clear Mind. Also, rather than identifying weapons, I registered them for auto destruction. So, only 25 minutes :)

No phial and the Merry cloak has no teleport. Ah, well. I did pick up a !Wis for my lone stat potion and I nice shooter as well.

Yowzers! Melee at last!! This is mostly thanks to an awesome Frakir replacement and its hard to believe that just a few minutes ago I only had one melee attack. But +6 dex from equipment and +2 from a lucky stat potion have really helped out.

Those boots ain't bad, but speed is proving hard to come by. I'm really not sure where I will score another +28 or so for the end game, since tasties like Ringil and Brand just aren't an option.

Jack was just insane, even with 4 _Healing and darkness resist. He kept healing and double darkness storming me, so that was a lost cause.

Saruman, I managed, but not until enduring his teleport other cowardice, which sent me packing a half dozen times. Finally, I psycho-speared him to death.

Finally, was Gandalf, another tough guy. But, he dropped +17 speed in the form of two rings (+8 and +7) and a Crimson replacement (+2). I still need to use my Frakir replacement for darkness resists, stats, and combat bonuses. But +2 to +12 base speed is a huge deal at this point, especially when one is as fragile as a kobold mindcrafter. My hits are coming along now at 679, though, so it is just a matter of time.

My plan is to hit L45 here, then power dive to the bottom of Angband. I'd prefer to trump, but I lack the gold and finally gave up trying to collect spellbooks. Too many artifacts to haul back for identification!

Whoa! I'm almost tempted to head back to the Dragon's Lair! The weapon compare feature says I'm good for over 1400 damage per round vs. dragons, but I really would prefer kill evil.

Last level had all the jewelry ... 5 pieces I think, including one with cold immunity.

Man, killing uniques requires *lots* of healing. Good thing I have so many staves of healing for the job, but that leaves charge drainers as a problem. Thus far, I have been avoiding them.

I'm looking for a diamond edge to artifact, but no luck so far. Also, a nice Falcon Sword of Destruction replacement would help as this scythe is pretty darn heavy. In the mean time, Spectral Wyrms and Sky Drakes are scarcely a bother!
