Here it lies before me: Morgoth's Iron Crown! I got it Luthien-style, though I have to admit I broke and spoiled myself with some source-code reading ;)

Now let's hope that that armour-cutting bastard sword will do the trick and get me a shiny gem, I have a bit exp left to get me a few levels of melee + finess, that might help now.

Nice work! You're clearly getting pretty good at playing these stealthy characters.

Did it! Though I had to search Morgoth's stash and were lucky to find a potion of strength there, otherwise I' would have needed a *very* lucky strike from the sword.

Now I won't repeat Beren's mistake, up to the gates it is!

Aha, I did think a potion of strength was going to be a good way forward for you here (a herb of rage would also have helped a little), but I didn't want to make any suggestions.

Have fun on the way out!

So close... Stupidly ran into a vampire on my way out, and I couldn't persuade him fast enough to go back to sleep again. But at least I've shown that this game might be winnable after all :)

Ouch! Bad luck with that.

I was going to suggest you might have tried running for some stairs (sometimes you need to use down stairs even in the escape), but I checked and you didn't make the evasion investment for sprinting -- I was getting confused with your previous character.

Great work. I notice that the depths on the notes are a little buggy. I'll try to do something about that.

Just to check: where did you find Anglachel? It has it at 900 ft but in between two entries for 1000 ft. I imagine it was at the latter? If so: lucky find!

On 16.1.2012 12:11 Scatha wrote:
I saw an earlier dump with an unidentified Anglachel, so I guess that the turn count is right for when it was identified, and the depth is the depth the item was found at? But Satyr can probably be more helpful ...

On 16.1.2012 16:29 Satyr wrote:
Scatha is right, I found it at 900', but it only id'ed when hacking at the crown (1000'). This seems to be the general behaviour of artefacts in the dump, i saw this a few times allready.

The double entry for the crown probably is bacause it changed from the 3-gem to the 2-gem version?

On 16.1.2012 16:42 half wrote:
OK, thanks for that. I suppose that is a reasonable way of doing it. Yes, that explains the second crown entry, though I'll try to stop it happening as it is a bit confusing.
