Getting a bit deeper every time... I've even been standing on the next stairs, when the Spider finally got to me.

Assassins with rapid attack are quite fun. There's something deeply satisfying in " you silently attack the Cave Troll!!!!!!!, you silently attack the Cave Troll!!!!!!!!, the Cave Troll dies".

Cool, this one sounds like it was fun to play. You've got a pretty nice balance between different skills -- anything you think you'd build differently next time?

Minor tip (do say if you don't want these!):
Webs and shadow spiders can each be nasty individually -- your melee and evasion are halved if you can't see your opponent or in a web, so quartered if both apply. I often find it's best to try to escape the web before fighting the spider, if that's possible.

Oh the tips are welcome, It's nice to learn more about the mechanismes in sil. I think I didn't even notice that I was webbed. It would be nice to have status effects displayed on the main screen somewhere.

I was quite happy with the build, maybe next time I'd try to keep my evasion a bit higher, though the next few thousand xp would have gone there.

Good point about being in a web/pit as a status effect. I hadn't been thinking of it like that, and will try to display it at the bottom of the screen. It does halve evasion, which is very bad news for low protection, high evasion characters who rely upon not getting hit. They also often have low strength which makes breaking out of the web hard too. In general, being caught in a web should be one of those "Take your hands off the keyboard and think the next few turns through" moments.

Oh, I should add that free action helps a lot with breaking out of webs, so you would have been fine if you tried to take a step away from the spider.
