Very first attempt, still somewhat unclear on the Abilities.

It looks like you stepped next to a mold while you weren't on full health. As they don't move, you can usually avoid this kind of death. Use (Z) to rest until healed. (But perhaps you were running away from something.)

Unfortunately it looks like you've got the bug which isn't producing notes files, so we can't see which abilities you have. Are you unclear about how to get them, or which ones to get, or something else? I'm guessing that you had Parry? (because it seems like the evasion doesn't sum to the right thing otherwise).

yeah, the Shadow Mold thing was carelessness, I wanted to see if I could spot it with the staff of Light, and the promptly stepped up to it... doh!

The abilities issue is more on the fact that I have no idea nor plan what to take (which will come with time), and the other two are a) I can't readily see when I can get new skills besides going to the character screen and pressing A and b) I don't really see what I need to do to get skill points, I'm assuming I need to do 'related' things, i.e. Stealthing to get more stealth tree points?

You can spend experience in your experience pool on Skill points or on Abilities. This is the only way to increase your skills -- press (i) from the character screen and then use the arrow keys.

The "Exp" which is displayed in normal dungeon view shows your experience pool rather than total experience, so this lets you know when you have enough that you want to spend it on skills/abilities.

So... how come I had 6 points for Melee skills and only 3 for Stealth skills? (This in addition to the 1000+ experience points)? Or do I need to increase skills to get ability points?

On 13.1.2012 16:26 Scatha wrote:
Ah, the requirements for getting abilities are phrased as "skill points", and what it means is the number of points you've invested in the relevant skill. So Assassination needs you to have increased your Stealth to at least 4 (before modifiers for Dexterity, equipment, etc).
