I've found Horrid Visage to be very effective so far.

Had a beast of a time dealing with a quest full of venomous insects. After two pits full of these guys including many Mi-Go who confuse me and summon more things to confuse me, I finally clear almost all the level to discover: my strength is down to about 14 (that's WITH my +4 STR mutation) and there are a few more monsters behind a wall I can't possibly tunnel through. SO aggravating.

This wilderness is very dangerous. The whole map is just really nasty. Luckily my Gold DSM lets me take care of just about anything not near a deep dungeon entrance.

I really like the abilities on these gloves but I need to find a replacement and it looks like the Gloves of the Ogre might not have FA or a dex modifier....
