Yo chris. I think launcher stats need redoing, they seem really biased against crossbows. Compare these two weapons:

w) The Short Bow 'Aflatoxin' (x2.50) (+8,+20) (+3) {PoDi;Xs Robin Hood}
x) The Heavy Crossbow 'Black Star' (x4.70) (+19,+18) (+4) {Sp;Sh;Xs}

First one is a short bow with 68k score, second one is a heavy crossbow with 130k (!) score. With plain ammo the short bow does 3.42 shots per round for 427 damage, the crossbow does 1.50 shots for 267 damage. That aint right.

Edit: apparently this is partly due to Rangers getting extra shots with bows and not xbows, but still.

Regalia has the right idea = That's what I meant - Spoilers within Spoilers Though, an aforementioned spoiler alert is sufficient IMO

I have a question for v 5.0.5. Where are the dungeons and ironman settings? Somehow I can not find these anymore. Do I need to edit the INI file?

Can we have the option for random race/class/magic/etc selections again in 5.0.6?

Of course, there's this one in 5.0.5 - ambushes occasionally spawn sleeping monsters letting you escape via '<'.

Throwing & Permacurses

I had an idle thought while contemplating potential skillmaster builds:

How does their throwing skill interact with permacursed weapons? You aren't necessarily guarenteed that your weapon comes back, or that you catch it, after all.

Reminder for Chris for next update - Please fix the Chaos-Warrior patron bug. Otherwise, all players are stuck with Slortar at birth!

I love PCB, but its hundreds of spoilery coded interactions are generally ones you would never notice nor try nor remember without using code to see what is out there. It's not like people will magically discover to equip main gauches in hand 2 for a free AC bonus at no cost, or that player liches get reductions in racial liferating as they increase in form, or whatever.

In The Interest Of Informed Decisions

Because I believe in informed decisions when one is planning out character builds, I decided to create a wizard-moded test character and experiment with the skillmaster. Here's what I found (EDIT: You'll need to highlight the text below, because of spoilers):

For melee weapon skills:
• You get a STR increase at your first, third, sixth, and ninth point.
• You get a DEX increase at your second and fifth points.
• You get a INT decrease at your sixth and ninth points.
• It only takes four points in any weapon melee skill to have master proficiency in that class of weapons. The fifth point gets you an additional quarter of a blow, +10 to-hit, and +7 to-damage.

For the 'Martial Arts' skill:
• You get a DEX increase at your second and fifth points (cumulative with the normal melee DEX increase).
• Your first point gives you an AC bonus like a monk and access to the unarmed techniques up through 'Eagle's Claw' (6d6).
• Your second point increases the AC bonus and gives you access to the 'Circle Kick' (6d8) technique.
• Your third point further increases the AC bonus and gives you access to the 'Iron Fist' (8d8) technique.
• Your fourth point gives you mastery proficiency, further increases the AC bonus, and gives you access to the 'Flying Kick' (8d10) and 'Dragon Fist' (10d10) techniques.
• Your fifth point further increases the AC bonus and gives you access to the 'Crushing Blow' (10d12) technique.
• Note that the number of blows you get increases with the number of points invested.

To be continued . . .
