Hello Nick - could you give me a hint how squelch/auto-kill is supposed to work in 0.3.0 ??
Everything gets inscribed with {squelch} for me, but nothing ever destroyed. I got the game to hide all {squelchables} lying on the ground, but I'm more worried about those items I already have picked up and which pseudo-ID "low enough". In 0.2.3 they where simply deleted from the inventory .. how do I set that up in 0.3.0 ??
No, I don't have a clue 'bout C, and I'm not starting my own variant.

You can't auto-kill any more; what should happen, though, is that as soon as you get pseudo-ID on something, it gets marked squelch and dropped if you have hide_squelchable set. I'm not 100% sure that things always get dropped straight away; it should happen at some point, though.

This is the current vanilla squelch system; while it is maybe not ideal, the plan is to update it when vanilla gets updated, which should be relatively soon.

Yah, I never did understand why the V squelch model was changed from NPP. The only time I didn't like the old one was for cursed ego bows (SI), for which there was no way to select vs cursed.

          Hi, Nick,
In the linux X11 mode, I found the -t (triple tile display) option still works, even though faangband -h doesn't list that option. How about the double tile display? Is it still there (but hidden) or is it already taken away? Thanks.

          [EDIT]
Actually I am being curious to check out FAAngband 0.3.0 after failing to get proper display of 0.2.3 on the zaurus.
Then I remember I posted the double tile mode in an old post several months back.
Found the old post and the relevant x11 options for tile display are:

          -s = smooth rescaling
          -o = old (8x8) tiles
          -a = AdamBolt (16x16) tiles
          -g = David Gervais (32x32) tiles
          -b = bigtile (i.e. double width)
-w = double tile (not shown in help/-h)
          -t = triple (not shown in help/-h)

Here are the screencaps using the David Gervais tiles. This time it works!

          (1) faangband -g -mx11 -- -b -g -n0

          (2) faangband -g -mx11 -- -b -w -g -n0

          (3) faangband -g -mx11 -- -b -t -g -n0

          (4) faangband -g -mx11 -- -b -t -s -g -n0

I find (2) bigtile + double tile the best on the zaurus (640x480, 3.7-inch display; running debian sid armel).

It's really great to see a number of updates of several *band (FAAngband, Furyband and Sangband)! Keep up the good work!

Excellent! Do the mouse controls all seem to work?

              Hi,
Yes, the mouse (touchscreen/stylus) controls seem to work well.

Bug: Travelling merchant stores sold shield !
I sold a Wicker Shield (0,0) to the Travelling Merchant in Khazad Dum, and he
promptly put it up for sale.
A Small Sword (0,0) found&sold on the same trip to Dlvl 1 did not show up, though, no matter in which order I sold both. (made a savegame upon entering town, just to be sure..)

AFAIK, the Travelling Merchant shouldn't re-sell things sold to him ?

No, that's OK. The TM regularly sells General Store stuff, and also some basic weapons and armour, including Wicker Shields. So if you sell him something on his list, he'll resell it.

Don't know if this is a bug or not

I stupidly ended up equipping a spear I found on the ground instead of putting it in my quiver. It was cursed, and I lost access to my Whip of the Balrog.

Later in the same level I tried throwing 'v' the spear from my inventory. Away it flew, and I was able to reequip my badass whip. As I understand it, shouldn't I have had to read a ?Remove_Curse? Character is a rogue with no access to RCurse.

How would I go about compiling the .30 source for Ubuntu? I'm going to be without windows for a month, and I'd love to try this out..

Yep, that's a bug. You should be able to do that from the quiver, but not from wielding.

In the top level directory, do ./configure, then make, then make install. You may get errors in the install, but they shouldn't affect anything. Do check that you actually have the executable (faangband) in the top level directory, though, and if you don't then copy it there from the src directory.

It gives me a bunch of errors in the install, and doesn't make a faangband executable anywhere.

                            Errors like this:

This looks like you don't have the right library (the curses library?). I would try using adept to find it; someone else may be able to be more specific.

ncurses and PDCurses are the most obvious curses implementations. On a *NIX, I'd try ncurses first.
