There's some randomness involved - the basic ingredient, though, is the same racial attitudes that are involved in shop prices (in cost_adj.txt).

pathfinding of neutrals (and supposedly others) needs improvements
On the Edain level, quite some of the neutrals just got stuck in their houses, running back and forth on the same 2 squares forever, unable to make their way 4 steps in the other direction to reach the door.
Btw., where do those neutrals run to when they wake up?
The AI for these guys is still fairly basic - they just pick a random spot and head for it. They're then supposed to pick another and head for that, but it doesn't always seem to work; maybe if they can't reach their first target they hang around it trying to, or something. In any case, this will be filled out more at some point.

neutrals can push/displace the player, but not other way 'round?
Yes, and I think it will probably stay that way. I want neutrals to be able to push past, and the "move into = attack" rule is too useful to start making exceptions, I think.

(D)isarming a chest "under" a (neutral) monster causes an attack ?!
Yes - trying to disarm anything under a monster results in attacking. I'm not sure whether that's still a good idea with neutrals.

      Player high score list

      Hi there,

NDS 1.0.1. On the highscore list there is only ever one entry, that of my current game. Where should the highscore file be?

When upgrading to 1.0.2, lets say I want to preserve my monster memory. Where is this info stored?

Not just NDS, by the looks of it. Apparently I've broken the high score file. On the NDS it would be in faangband/lib/apex. I guess it will be fixed in 1.0.3

        It's in the savefile.

There's an amusing (but not immediately obvious) gameplay bug in 1.0.3 - introduced when I was debugging 1.0.2. First to find it gets a Complainer comment (or maybe a bone file or a shopkeeper) in their honour.

What 1.0.3? Is the fact that there is no immediately obvious download for 1.0.3 anywhere (only 1.0.2) the bug? Do I win a prize?

Oops - I meant 1.0.2, introduced while I was debugging 1.0.1. Consider that as a quick demo of how I introduce bugs.

Well I just found Thuringwethil's crown in a chest of amulets. That wasn't one of the special artifacts last time I checked.

Hmmm. I've noticed getting more than one type of armour out of chests, too - but that's not it

Usually I get my complainer comment without any special effort - but let me try again :
=> Item generation on dungeon floors seems "impared" somewhat ... wilderness looks fine though. Might be my usual luck, though ...
No, I don't have a clue 'bout C, and I'm not starting my own variant.

Hmm - uncursed rings of e.g. Feather Falling not being saleable to the Magic Shop? Trying to activate the Magestaff occasionally producing bizarre "Activation type not recognised. Oops" messages, yet using up a turn?

That's all I've found so far...

No and no. And the activation thing should have been fixed in 1.0.2 - does it seem to be?

The description for the wand of beguiling includes the damage description intended for Ilkorin?

Thank you Nick, for the very cool update!

Just to note, I´ve run into a crash during loading in a themed level in 1.01, but 1.02 seems to have fixed the problem.

If i reach clvl 35 ill post but lately i've been playing bad due to lack of patience...

It seems that getting Gondolin/Nargothrond recalls is the key to me for a char to kick in. LOTS of deaths in the wilderness, still.

Those artifacts wands are a mess, aren't they? But no, that's not it. This is *the best* way to find bugs though

Yes, I broke field of view badly for 1.0.1.
