Success! I have a savefile where an abyss spider has crackled evilly. I'm standing on a tree and I haven't moved since the evil crackle, in one or two turns I will find a trap below me. I went on to play a bit after making a backup of the savefile so I know the trap is there and I know it protects me from attacks. Now, how do I get the file to you?

The only FA0.3.6 DS port available is the one on the FA site, which I compiled from Immir's 2.53. The links on Immir's page are to the 2.53 version of FA0.3.5a; the version of FA0.3.5a on the FA site is 2.50.

I hope this makes everything clear

          Hi

Running (0.)3.6 on Linux. when I (l)ook at a player ghost the game crashes.
Ghosts have previously appeared to this character and I have had no problem looking at them.

Save file in your email, Nick....

          Cheers

This is a known and (sadly) unfixed bug. The workaround is to save before you look at something that might be a player ghost . The savefile is easy to fix, though - I'll get it back to you soon.

Another workaround until it gets fixed is to play without player ghosts by keeping your /bone/ folder empty after a character death.

It would be ironic if this crash applied to other monsters, like Medusa. How appropriate...

Weird behaviour when Caps lock is on

I've noticed some weird stuff happening a couple of times when I, by mistake, try to play with the Caps lock on. After an unknown series of key strokes (basically I was moving, then trying to switch weapon, I think) the following message appeared:

You a wearing a Stone of Nature Lore [Call of the Wild] (')
I lost that Stone and the slot (') didn't appear in my equipment list . Earlier I've also "tried" a spell book in some way that made me blind and made me lose the book and at one occasion (but that was before 0.3.6) also added +1 deadliness to a spell book. Is this a known bug or should I try to replicate it (by randomly pressing keys until it happens again)?

Playing on Vista by the way.

Awesome. I have no idea about any of those - I'll try and track them down. Your welcome to do any further testing you like

The same thing happened to me too, a long time ago (pre 3.6, also vista). I reported it here in the forum. Maybe I can find the post. Bingo, and here it is.

OK, well it looks like that whole denial thing isn't going to work again (or, arguably, didn't work the first time). Thanks for the reports - that's in my to do list now.

Denial always "works"; it is a matter of plausibility. Implausible deniability is not particularly useful.

I finally solved my NDS 0.3.6 woes with the advice of someone on the www.scdev.org forums. I dldi patched my slot-2 SCSD-Lite with the SC Rumble dldi and it worked! However, I have used a lot of homebrew and this is the first to ever break using the official SCSD-Lite dldi.

One(yet another) suggestion for the nds port. The old cursor control mapping (to d-pad) was much better for the nds menus than the current number key mapping. d-pad usage on any menu list selection with a numerical item in its list is broken. Then again changing the mapping back might break other features that require the numpad keymapping(e.g. "locate player" map scrolling)?

Yeah, this whole thing needs fixing, and it's on my list.

                              Squelch crash

Even if you're reworking squelch for the next version I thought I could mention that it can cause FA to crash:

I found a unknown scroll on the floor, picked it up, IDed it and it turned out to be a "scroll of worthless junk (squelch)", my inventory promptly reorganizes and to save one or two keystrokes I tried to type k!, oops, crash. Particularly annoying since I of course hadn't saved in a while and just had found some nice necklace. It was on windows vista and I've reproduced it with another savefile.
