    Your weapon will look something like this:
    Code:
    Combat info:
         3.8 blows/round.
         [COLOR="red"]With +0 STR and +2 DEX you would get 4.1 blows[/COLOR]
         Average damage/round: 133.6 vs. creatures not resistant to cold,
         and 94 vs. others.
    Yes, more strength will get you more damage per blows, and will let you use heavier weapons. But it will always be DEX that you need most for more blows.

    So far just digging with my weapon has worked pretty well - not sure if I'll need it, I'll store it in the (full) house just in case.

    Tough battle, three named trolls together, had to use most of my heal critical, slow monster and speed. Got a 'short bow of Amrod'.

    ID rune doesn't work on staves because they don't have runes. You'll have to use-id it. Were there any monsters around when you tested it? If not, it's almost certainly one of the status inflicters: confuse, sleep, stun, or hold. Historically, detect invisible and curing were also difficult staves to use-id, but I'm pretty sure that those staves now id on use even if there is nothing to detect or cure.

    So, I wasted the rare most valuable scroll. At least it's identified.

    Read a scroll - it was mass banishment but did nothing. Not sure what it does, it sounds similar to genocide.

    You'll want a good dex ring soon, when you upgrade to a heavier weapon. Curing is a waste of time if you have plenty of CCW/CSW. Detect evil is useful, especially past dl 40. Those rods of light will come into play too.
